"If the dealer is adding a premium over sticker, he's the one playing games, not GM."
If dealers are doing this to consumers who in essence are the end users of GM's product, the ultimate purchasers, doesn't this reflect the integrity of the corporation as a whole. Even if GM has nothing to do with their dealers, the dealers are the ones who reflect an image upon GM and their products. If GM only sold vehicles to dealers and dealers never sold any cars to consumers the automotive industry would be in ruins. Im sorry, I forgot GM is in bankruptcy because of their inability to sell vehicles to consumers with vehicle sales being at a low. I disagree and believe greedy dealers looking to make a quick buck that should be lucky they are still in business reflect upon GM although it may not be GM directly. |

Blah Blah Blah..... and when there are 500 people standing in line for every one Camaro built, it's only natural that supply and demand takes over. And for the dealer, that makes up a little for all the cars he "gives away" to all the mooches of this world who will sell out their local dealer and drive 50 miles to another to "save" $25 in the price of a $25,000 car. GM isn't in BK because of the Camaro, that's for damn sure. I actually find it amusing that someone would think a dealer would sell him/her a car for $500 under invoice that actually commands thousands ABOVE sticker. I think there's more to the story... like someone trying to somehow obtain a Camaro when they are next to impossible to get right now. |

Plenty of dealers selling Camaro's at MSRP or less! Also, ask your dealer to show you thier letter that they are continuing with GM before placing an order.

I seem to remember dealers asking $5K+ over sticker for the new Ford Thunderbirds. The cars just sat and sat and sat. In the end, Ford couldn't give those T-Birds away.
The consumer should know that they will never recover any price paid over sticker. The Camaro is and will not be a limited edition car. The smart consumer will wait until supply catches up w/ demand. The foolish consumer will spend thousands over sticker to be one of the first to own the car. That status will last for only a few months. That's a hefty price to pay for a highly depreciable asset that will be in large supply. |
