then i guess the "only true" recent muscle cars are the Mustang and the GTO, eh?
And R.I.P. for the GTO,....MUSTANG, CHARGER, and CHALLENGER,......... |

Charger has 4 doors...and i havent seen any Challengers out.... |

4 door Charger LOL!
You didn't have a problem with a 4 door G8?...check out the new Pontiac Enthusiast Mag for May/June,..Page 8,..LOL |
and i also don't consider the G* a muscle car...it's a performance sedan....and better than the Chrysler 300 or Charger in my opinion.... |
I have a SD455 73 Trans Am ,and I have had many pontiacs over the last 30 years (7),... and I now own a SRT10 & SRT8 Charger. I know how fast the both cars are; and you need to drive an SRT8 Charger Before downing the Charger,(Opinions are like a**holes,..everyone has one)......... |

and isn't that what these boards are all about, opinions....the G8 goes up against the RT...not the SRT8....IMO the G8 GT is a better allaround package than the RT....i have driven them both....and i believe when the G8 GXP comes out later this year it will have the SRT8 trumped...ah, er....my OPINION... |
In my Opinion, the 2009 Challenger later this year comes out with a 6 speed and 500hp,..In my Opinion will trump the Pontiac,.. |
Hp will usually trump anything...but...how much for the Challenger?....45K ?? |
Your right, and thats why the Viper, and the Corvette,& Ford GT, SRT8 Charger, & SRT8 Challenger sell,.....to people like me with money,...There will always be HALO cars,.........few maybe,...but still made |

Oh please...
Everyone knows that Ma Mopar invented the muscle car: 1955 Imperial (354 Hemi) and 1957 Plymouth Fury (318 with dual quads). Muscle cars were born in the mid 1950s, not with the pokey GTO (the 1960s first real snoozer). No "muscle" car ever made is faster, or holds more speed records, than the 1970 Hemi Plymouth Superbird. Those cars are still so fast that the pansies at NASCAR & in Europe continue to outlaw them. Ma Mopar still whoops'em all on wheels with the Viper, and next the Challenger. Sorry to tell you the truth Mustangers... your's is, always has been, a great teen car (but not muscle). |

Tough choice but I think I'd have the Buick 455 GSX crowned King of the Musclecars. Were there faster muscle cars - sure, but not very many and not by very much. The overall combo of thumping power in a beaut body with a stylish interior and good all round performance appointments minus childish cartoon gimmicks puts this one top of the tree for me. I'd also rate the Aussie E49 Charger. Different car to the Buick but a lightweight rocketship powered by a truely awesome motor, and one that proves you don't need a big block in a pony body to move it quicktime. Like the Buick this car was largely and unjustly overshadowed in the public imagination by its higher profile competition. Thankfully it is now getting the recognition that it deserves.
