I believe this is the speed sensor that is located in the hub assembly..........may just be the wiring, but if not you have to replace the complete hub assembly.........

We have had the fuel filter replaced and spark plugs. Its been going on now for about four months. I read the above and will try the crank position censor and the fuel pressure regulator. Thanks. Any other suggestions welcome. I had similar issues in my 99 Intrigue. A mechanic cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the problem went away.

Joe West Palm Beach FL wrote: My 98 Olds Intrigue does not start. All lights went out when I turned the key to start it. If I open the door there is some clicking noise, but no lights,no response to turning the key. With the brake pedal depressed the clicking stops. Same happened in August. I had the car towed then. The mechanic told me that only the computer had to be reset. His instructions given to me then: "close the door, leave the car alone for 15 minutes, then open and close the door lock 2 times".I have tried this now but without any success. What is the correct procedure?? Please help ! The car has new battery. It is an igntion code recognition problem. The security system locks out the starter & igntion. If you leave the key in the ignition and wait EXACTLY 10 minutes it usally comes right back on. it is very annoying. My same car used to do it once every 20 times I'd start it. Now it does it once every 5 times or so. It drives me nuts. Fixing it costs bertwen $400 to $500.

There is a vacuum operated temperature actuator in each of the ventilation system's air supply lines that mix cold/warm air to give you the desired temperature. I've had mine replaced two or three times for about $200 each time. Richard wrote: <quoted text> My 98 intrigue only blows cold air out of the driver side. As long as it's blowing cold air, that's a good sign, and means your air conditioning is working. There is a "window" which controls air-flow for the passenger air conditioning to give the car dual zone climate control. In essence, the car only has one air conditioning system, but the window modifies the amount of warm and cold air based on the temperature you select. There must be something wrong with that window. Maybe the motor died. My car is in the shop as we speak getting the motor for the window replaced.

(AntiLock Brake Light, Service Engine Light and Low Trac Light) seems like after starting the car - you go a short distance and possibly a bump in the road - these amber lights come on.
I have the same issue, but my car just dies. It is able to restart, but I drive it a couple of blocks and does the same thing. Suggestions?

I am having the same problems on our 2001. Most of the dash lights stay on all the time, doesn't always stay running when you start it, can be driving and all guages will drop like the car has been shut off. Took it to a dealer that used to work on Oldsmobile and they replaced the PCM (powertrain control module) and this worked for about two days and started doing the same things again. Please let me know

Intrigue ShiftLever Stuck wrote: I will never buy an Oldsmobile again!!!I will never buy american again to be honest, some countries just make better cars. NOW TO THE SHIFT LEVER PROBLEM WITH OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUES. The button would get stuck, I would push with anger with both hands and sometimes it would work, but it stranded my wife away from home, and that was the last straw. We just parked it and did not drive it, but I got out to it and tried a few things from time to time, and I figured it out tonight. Either you pay a mechanic your leg for this simple job, or you do it yourself. There are two ways to fix it. 1. pop off the top plastic cover (it goes from the top of the cup holder by the compartmen in the arm rest to the area where I put my change, or cups in front of the shift lever( just two screws at the top by the center compartment). Then unscrew the black shift plate thing that shows what gear it's in, and is attached to the fake leather sleeve on the shift lever. Unclip the traction control button wire so you can completely remove that first plastic cover too. Then you will see a metal square trying to push down when you press the shift lever button. See the gray plastic thing stopping it? snap it off with some pliers!!! Unless you are the type of person that shifts into gear without pressing the brake first, this safety feature is only a problem. If you are trusted with driving a car, you can be trusted to push the break before shifting into gear. 2. THe other way is to replace the strut that moves the plastic piece for you. It is a chrome cylinder on the left side on the base, it moves the arm that moves the plastic thing out of the way of the metal square that is moved by you pressing the shift lever button. I just broke the plastic thing off!! I am not about to start replacing stuff, I am not going to put anymore money into my piece of crappola GM vehicle. if you still have car, that gear shift problem is a 6 dollar fix at walmart. its easy to change if you want details email me kvnmac8@gmail.com

I have a 98 Olds Intrigue with many of the same problems that I read about here. I haven't been able to put my finger on the A/C blowing warm air on the driver side, but I did have a problem with the car not turning over but the lights and everything else working. I had the battery cables changed and it cured the problem for good. The problem was the side mount battery terminals leaked acid into the cable end and corroded the cable end connection. I've been battleing the A/C problem for a long time. I have noticed some foam rubber blowing from the vents on the dash. I wonder if that hasn't clogged the door system that controls the airflow to the drivers side vent. The lady noticing the squeal coming from the passenger side when first starting the car should ignore it. Its the heater/AC fan motor bearings. Only fix is to replace it. If you can stand it for a few seconds, don't replace it, live with it.

I was FOREVER changing the blinker bulbs on my 99 Olds Intrigue. Every time one would burn out, I just took the old bulb in to the parts store to make sure I got the right bulb. After complaining to my brother, he said it sounded like the wrong bulbs were in the car. He checked the manual at the parts store and sure enough.....all the bulbs in the car were the wrong size (number?). I really think it came from the factory that way. Since we changed the bulbs out to the correct ones.....no more problems! Grace S -Georgia wrote: Has anyone had a problem with the blinkers and head lights? I have seen alot of Intrigues with one fog light on during the day. I have replaced the right head light system ($500) and again it is out. This affects the outside front and inside blinkers. Any sugestions? Has there been a recall?

Same problem here. Stalling and hesitation, sometimes the car would die outright, but always quickly restart. Only once did I get an error code" P0102 I think. Something to do with vacuum pressure, MAP, or MAF sensors. I check all the vacuum hoses I could find and replaced one. This cleared the error code, but the symptoms persisted. Finally, on the advise of a mechanic, I unplugged the MAF sensor. The car didn't run great, but the stalling and hesitation stopped. Then I picked up a MAF (Mass Airflow or Mass Air Flow) Sensor at Autozone for $133, replaced it, and the problem's gone. One thing to consider, you'll need a special torx driver (T-20) with a hole in the middle. Autozone also sold this in a set, but it took some searching in the store as it wasen't listed online. This is on a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Hope this helps someone out. Doug wrote: My 99 Olds Intrigue has been hesitating and at times reving up or down. Sometimes it even stalls. Has anyone had this issue. I am interested in possibly repairing this myself. Service engine soon light does not come on so there are no codes to check.

I have a 1999 intrigue with 135K. My car has a rough idle, sometimes, and will stall out, sometimes. The RPM will bounce from low to high at an idle, sometimes stall, and totally drop when and I throw it into reverse. I cleaned my fuel rail, the MAF, replaced the fuel filter, and cleaned the injectors. When I am driving down the highway and am over 1500RPM the car runs just fine. It is when I let off the gas or put it in reverse where the problem comes into play. This has been going on for months and I just can’t seem to figure it out. Please help!

The AC has a switch board on the passenger side, under/behind the glove box. Replace that and see if it works. Worked for me anyway. You can pick them up at NAPA, they are relatively inexpensive. And anyone having the “only cold air on one side” problem, the tank is not full. The AC has two chambers to it and if one is low, the other will not engage will not blow cold air. Sometimes it takes a few cans to get that thing full, I know mine did.
