Electric actuator that controls the vents may be out of service. I had the mechanic manually put the vents on A/C and unplug the device.
Jeff-where is the "Electric actuator located" I assume it is in the dashboard somewhere. What does "put vents on A/C", mean. I did try to charge up the 134A refrigerant but that is not the problem, there is plenty of refrigerant in my A/C system.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2000 Intrigue that doesn't always start.
It began happenine 2 yrs ago & sometimes would stall while I was driving, but would start right up.
I had the ingnition switch replaced which seemed to do the trick for about a year. Recently I had the same starting problems but without the stalling, so we replaced the iginition switch once again. Problem not fixed, I then had a new iginition and new key made and my car still doesn't start. There is no pattern or rythme or reason to this problem.
Any thoughts would be helpful....
I had a friend that also owned an Intrigue, I believe 97, the problem had to do with the chip in your car key. I can not remember if that solved the issuues, but it did run again for some time. hope this helps

I have a 2002 Intrigue with 85,000 miles and it runs well except for when I start to accelerate there is a tinny vibrating/whining sound that seems to come from the engine area closest to the passenger compartment. When I acclerate hard it goes right away and runs well. Any thoughts for trouble shooting ould be aprecaited.
Friend just had same symptoms. Problem: New transmission. Price tag:$3,300

I have a 1988 Oldsmobile 3800 that makes a loud whining noise when I accelarate. Lacks power and motor is hot. Is this a faulty sensor or what?

Just to bump a problem that another guy has that I too now have, here goes:

I have a 1999 Intrigue and the climate control system now is not turning on for about 10 min. About half the time I start the car it turns right on. The other half of the time it doesn't come on for a long time, probably 10 minutes or so. I was thinking that it's probably some sort of relay, but I did't know what anyone else might think, and if it might be the relay, where might it be located? Thanks!

My 1998 intrigue done the same thing as Leonard's. Was sluggish in cranking for about 2 weeks, had the battery checked, and they said it was low on power. After that it done fine for 2 days. Then it would not crank one night... Have lights and everything. Changed ignition fuse and got new battery and still nothing. Please give me info.

Its the security system shutting off the ignition. I have had similar problems on my 98 Intrigue...
First time it happened, I tried to jump it, didn't work then replaced the perfectly good battery.

What works for me is to insert the key, turn key to on position (but do not turn to start), count to ten then turn it to start. This works reasonably well most of the time.

The security system will reset in 15 minutes if you leave it alone after a failure.

GM passlock at your service...

good luck

Oldeman, thank you for your input. Unfortunately we have found out that it was my starter. A mechanic friend finally made it over and did a few taps to the starter and it cranked right up. So far, it is still good. But will check into to having it rebuilt. Thank you.

1999 olds intrigue 3.8l v6. sorry i didnt explain all i could above. so When car first started this. I would turn key and just hear fuel pump. So everyone told me its the starter. Well went and installed a new one. NOw I hear the fuel pump and a loud click from the new starter tryin to engage. So i think the new starter works. But still dont crank over. Lights are not dim. radio works, ac works and heat, what about the ingnition switch, or a specific fuse. or anything i might now have checked. or could it be somthin with the crank, or some kind of relay, or comp.

The radiator temperature on my 99 Intridue has slowly been going up. It is close to overheating. There is an ample amount of radiator coolant. What can be some of the causes? Does this auto have a termostat disc or sensor?

Most likely an ign switch problem
