My 99 Olds Intrigue has been hesitating and at times reving up or down. Sometimes it even stalls. Has anyone had this issue. I am interested in possibly repairing this myself. Service engine soon light does not come on so there are no codes to check.

The 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue stalled several times in the past several years then recently has stalled several times per week even when traveling at a constant velocity on a smooth stretch of roadway. The owners manual points out that another problem we had noticed occasionally in previous years is an indication of potential servicable problems with the system: The traction control would turn off on its own. The Intrique died or stalled often this month since replacement of the air conditioning compressor. The battery was replaced but the problem continues. Replaced the fuel filter but the car died yesterday about a half mile from the repair shop while driving it home. It is scary and somewhat dangerous to have the Olds Intrigue stall as it locks the steering wheel when the switch is turned to attempt to restart the car, and the car has to be stopped and the transmission placed in park to restart it. So far it has restarted OK. Also this month the car backfired and stalled and after cranking it did finally restart. Never backfired before. Others having similar ploblems? Manufacturer defect and a hidden warranty or recall to resolve this, possibly? dan at abotoy dotco mm.

When the Car stalls it clears any codes according to the comment of our certified mechanic who happens to own a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Other lesser cost steps more likely to solve this, to make the Oldsmobile Intrique reliable to drive again?

My 99 Intrigue's AC is only blowing cold air out of the passenger side. The dealership replaced the control head, actuator and charged AC, but 1500.00 later the problem still persists. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? My 98 intrigue only blows cold air out of the driver side. As long as it's blowing cold air, that's a good sign, and means your air conditioning is working. There is a "window" which controls air-flow for the passenger air conditioning to give the car dual zone climate control. In essence, the car only has one air conditioning system, but the window modifies the amount of warm and cold air based on the temperature you select. There must be something wrong with that window. Maybe the motor died. My car is in the shop as we speak getting the motor for the window replaced.

I have read about a paperback size box behind the glovebox area that contains a motor and a couple of rods, that control temp and heat mix temps for the different sides. Is this what your refering too? Let me know how it turns out. I am going to give the dealereship (regretably) another shot at it Tuesday the 5th, only because their work is still under warranty. Without AC, the car is almost worthless in this Southern climate. Besides a crankshaft sensor, this is the only problem Ive had with the car.

I recently purchased a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 38K Miles. I had the air conditioner recharged, but it does not seem to be working properly. Cold air blows out the passenger vents, but it never gets cold on the driver's side. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Stalling issues with these Intrigues can commonly be linked to a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
My Q
I have a 1999 Intrigue and the climate control system now is not turning on for about 10 min.
The first thing I noticed when the climate control systme started to act funny was when turning on the defrost the relay would click really fast. Then from there other things stopped working, like heat and AC. Now the Headlights turn of and on by themselves.
The only thing I have done this year was change the battery, is there a special calibration process??

Cold air blows out the passenger vents, but it never gets cold on the driver's side. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I had the same problem with my 99 intrigue. It could be any number of things. I had the AC control head replaced, that's the module in the dash where you turn the knobs for hot and cold air. It is about a 700.00 part. The dealer can check it first for error codes, they can also reprogram the count values in it for temp control. At first it seemed to fix my problem then it started again - blowing cold on one side only. I took it back to the dealer, they said the compressor has a leak, they replaced the compressor and it has been working fine since. I have heard from others it could be an actuator motor, a coil, the intrigue has two, one for passenger side and one for driver side. Check to see if compressor has leaked freon already. If so you may need a new compressor. 38K miles is very low miles for a 99. If thats acurate I am surprised your having this problem already.

My 98 Olds Intrigue does not start. All lights went out when I turned the key to start it. If I open the door there is some clicking noise, but no lights,no response to turning the key. With the brake pedal depressed the clicking stops. Same happened in August. I had the car towed then. The mechanic told me that only the computer had to be reset. His instructions given to me then: "close the door, leave the car alone for 15 minutes, then open and close the door lock 2 times".I have tried this now but without any success. What is the correct procedure?? Please help ! The car has new battery.

Day time running lights would flash, and not come on automatically, the auto climate control was completely dead. Accessories would not work consistanly, pass lock (PK3+) would reset randomly.
Four ACC circuits run off the ignition switch 1 dead and 1 intermittent, the last where about to fail.
After all the electrical problems I have had with the car a new ignition switch cured my intrigues problems.

JJJ,
Does the engine run good or hesitate. Any thing else as far as how it runs, even exhaust smell or color?

Also one more thing to add is the A/C and heat would not change modes from upper defrost to mid and lower floor board and the dual zone heat didn't work, A/C would come on whenever and would onlyblow air out of the middle vents.

I have a 2002 Intrigue with 85,000 miles and it runs well except for when I start to accelerate there is a tinny vibrating/whining sound that seems to come from the engine area closest to the passenger compartment. When I acclerate hard it goes right away and runs well. Any thoughts for trouble shooting ould be aprecaited.

I have a 2000 Intrigue that doesn't always start. It began happenine 2 yrs ago & sometimes would stall while I was driving, but would start right up. I had the ingnition switch replaced which seemed to do the trick for about a year. Recently I had the same starting problems but without the stalling, so we replaced the iginition switch once again. Problem not fixed, I then had a new iginition and new key made and my car still doesn't start. There is no pattern or rythme or reason to this problem. Any thoughts would be helpful....
