Some Drivers Displeased With E-10 Fuel

Record high oil prices cause more pain at the pump. The cost of gas went up about 10 cents a gallon overnight at most stations around Tulsa.

Jack, the government was not trying to "appease" anyone with with this stupid law. Instead, the agro-business lobby paid our corrupt politicians to pass this law in order to increase their profits--and it's working. By burning corn instead of eating it, the cost of food across the board is going up. No wonder we're in a recession.

ethanol is so cheap is because of the government subsidies that come from OUR tax dollars. Once those go away, people will really start questioning why corn, and therefore most other food products, is so expensive. Corn ethanol is not the answer, folks. It takes more energy to make than it contains, and it's robbing our food supplies. Meanwhile, we're STILL paying farmers NOT to grow corn. That comes from our tax dollars too.
Yes, gas is high, but you have to realize that crude oil was artificially cheap from the mid-80s to just recently. The whole industry was going under. Just now are energy companies starting to make money again. I know gas is high, but knee-jerk reactions like turning FOOD into FUEL are not the answer.
Now, cellulosic ethanol from something like switchgrass would work, but we're still a ways from that.
No real point to this, just here to inform.

Not only did I loose about 3MPG, my car's performance also went down. After wasting my time for months trying to figure out what the problem was, I called QuickTrip and was told that all their gas is now E10.
I feel they lied to me by not disclosing that they are no longer selling real gas.
Some Phillips 66 gas stations still sell real gas but not enough of them.
Ethanol is a worse pollutant than gas, raises food prices, reduces performance and mileage and to add insult to injury they use our tax dollars to subsidize it.
A big joke and the joke is on us.

in other states that i've been to, their ethanol blend is 30 cents cheaper than regular gasoline... why isn't oklahoma's E10 just as cheap. they are selling it as if its 100% gasoline.

My motorcycle dropped 20 miles a gallon using E-10 and it wouldn't run right I started going somewhere else and it went back to normal. I think they should have separate pumps for E-10 and pure gas.

E-10 is a joke. Don't use it in anything where it will sit in the tank for more than 90 days as the ethanol becomes a solvent in that timeframe and will start breaking down anything plastic/rubber. Bad stuff.

This is a must-read on ethanol in general:

http://www.fuel-testers.com/ethanol_engine_pr...

We can thank ethanol subsidies and switched crop production to the recent spike in grocery prices. Ethanol is a lose-lose deal. BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, BAD FOR CONSUMERS.

Most small independent stations that still sell real gasoline are putting signs on their pumps to indicate so. Otherwise, assume it's E-10. I used to be a loyal QT customer - I wondered why my mileage and performance dropped and discovered it to be related to QT's ethanol blended fuel. Now that I'm back to stations selling gasoline, my truck runs great again and my mileage is up by 1.7-2.2mpg. I will not spend another dime in a QT store, I just don't feel like I can trust a company that's sold me an inferior product at little/no price differenc to real gas. It would be one thing if I had the OPTION to buy E-10, but they just quietly started selling it IN PLACE of the gasoline I'd always purchased there. Anyone else notice that they don't push their "Guaranteed Gasoline" slogan anymore - probably because they don't sell GASOLINE any more.

I moved to Omaha two years ago from Tulsa. Up here, the mid-grade is the only gas that uses ethanol. It runs about 5 to 10 cents cheaper than regular unleaded.

and definitely don't run e-10 in motorcycles that are not fuel injected. Carburated bikes have lots of rubber orings and such exposed directly to the fuel-and this stuff destroys them.

Your mileage goes down with ethanol because it doesn't have as much effective energy content as gasoline. The reason gasoline is a fuel of choice is because it packs so much energy per gallon compared to other fuels. Check out the Chevy and GMC websites and look at the mileage of their E-85 flex fuel vehicles. When you use gasoline you get over 50% greater mileage than when using E-85 fuel. Ethanol from corn is a BAD idea. It seems criminal to be using corn for fuel when every day you can read stories about food riots in third world countries because of shortages and high prices.

I ride a motorcycle and after reading this article and the posted comments, I will not be filling up at QuickTrip anymore. In the past few months I have on a couple of occasions purchased gas elsewhere and immediately noticed a difference in the performance. The engine would run smoother with a lot crisper acceleration. I even made comments to my friends. I will start looking for stations that still supply the good stuff

Has anyone also noticed that QT's "Guaranteed Gasoline" pledge has gone away quietly. One poster touched on the fact that the E-10 is not only as efficient as regular gas, but is much more corrosive and on older cars (like my 2001 Explorer) can do more damage to the engine over time.

The quick fix answer to corn based ethanol could be sugar based ethanol. Sugar, which if you cook you already know, has a higher burning temp than corn. This lower burn rate is what causes the corn based ethanol to be less efficient. Again, it could be a temporary fix, but it might help us get better mileage.

Can someone please tell me where to get "the good stuff" I am not from around here and I have been filling up at Quicktrip and I too have notice my cars performance has gone down. I did not know until now that it is most likely due to the gas I have been using. Also, how do you tell if you are getting the good gas rather than the E-10.

The moment all those "developing" nations quit using animul dung (the highest contributor to the carbon build up & so-called global warming) is the moment I'll support ethanlol without a warning sticker on the pump.

This stuff ends up costing more $ by lowering mileage. Dumb liberals.

It is time the American (PEOPLE) go on strike. What would happen if all the Doctors, Nurses, Fire Departments, Police Departments, Ambulance Services, Truck Drivers, City and State workers boycotted work, 1 day? Do you think someone might pay attention and listen? Gas prices are way to high..
People that make minium wage, How do they survive? No wonder so many people depend on state services.

It is time (WE THE PEOPLE) stood up and put an end to it. I am not anti government, I love my country. But I am so tired of being drained of resources to live. I do not get cost of living raise like our elected government. I buy a gallon of gas before I buy food, because I need to make sure I can get to work to keep a roof over my head. Not to mention the cost of Utilities and food going up also. If something doesn't happen soon, you will see alot more people living under bridges....

Working by bottom of to be poor:
