i think the doctor is a quack. the xterra has one of the hardest spark plugs to change besides some jaguars 1 thru 5 are cake but the sixth plug is located on the back of the engine between the firewall. grab as many swivals and different legnth extensions as you can find and a mirror to see what your doing. in my opinion its worth putting a body lift on the suv in order to gain room between the block and the firewall so you can gain easier access. "one of the easiest" i dont think so try it before you preach it.

i got a frontier, but am thinkin' bout a xterra. it does have the same engine.
anyhoo, i went to change my plugs, and damn that plug number six... since i have a welder i fabricated the right size extension. Then it wasn't so bad. My friend, more of a mechanic than I, had the right size extender with the little swivel dohicky and he didn't have problems on his. So, I think it's a matter of having the right tool for the job. Did I mention that I spent way too long trying to get at it before i built my own tool.\ For plug 6, it was a long achy back process. |
