how nice that my hard earned tax dollars are going to buy new Nissans for stupid folks that bought gas guzzling SUV's a few years back. Sad.

Don't be fooled...unless you drive an old truck (but not TOO old...1985 or newer) or an SUV you WILL NOT qualify. Your car has to get 18 MPG or less 'ON THE STICKER"...virtually impossible. I have an old Toyota Truck, doesn't qualify. An old 1991 Mustang (currently getting about 11 MPG) doesn't qualify. An old 1988 Oldsmobile, again, doesn't qualify. Of course, once the dealers have you in there, they can sell to 75% of potential buyers by telling them they can still work something out.
Apparently the plan will be tweaked next year, so hold on. Go on the internet first ( cars.gov ) to see if your car qualifies before you go down to the dealer.
