We're in Australia and bought a Path finder in May 2006. It has a fuel gauge problem. It tells us it's empty (0kms to go) but when we fill up, it will only take around 60 litres in the 80 litre tank.

We know from previous correspondence with Von Bibra Motors, the dealer, that there have been problems with other vehicles. they have replaced a part but there is no difference.

Val Davis, Customer Care Nissan Australia (Ha Ha!) has replied to Von Bibra that if it will take 64-65 litres when it tells you that it is empty then that is within an accuracy level that they are satisfied with. So if we are on a long haul we have no real idea of how many kms we still have left.

***Disgusted. Yes! Will we recommend or buy another Nissan vehicle. Never!

Has anyone over there had a similar problem. Our Pathfinder was made in Spain.

Maureen,
You are not alone. I purchase my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder vehicle brand new here in the US and just this week my fuel gauge has started to read incorrectly. I have filled up my tank at the gas station and driven off with the tank reading empty. Now my engine light is on.
I am very angry that this is happening to such a new vehicle and expected more from Nissan. This has to be a recall. I am going to my dealership to see if they can fix this.

bought a 06 path in nov 06 (New York)the following august 07 gas gauge started to read incorrectly. then i ran out of gas.... went to the dealer 6 times until it was fixed. however 4-6 months later it started less and less as i fill it up until at 1/2 tank it reads 48 miles...normally 1/2 tank is 100-110 miles.....then without doing anything it reads 107 miles on the dte. pretty screwed up.....SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE
