As there is no lock on the outer trap door anyone can flip it open, insert the plastic funnel that is provided with all Ford cars with this system, and siphon off fuel through the funnel. The system might be well thought out for some purposes, but without a central locking system that includes the outer trap of the filling system, it becomes dangerous.
I'm very happy with my new ford Focus TDC1 115, except for this particular point.

Locals here fear friendly donations of sugar in their gas tank overnight , by mischievous teenagers. Wondering if anyone had thought of a way to lock the door, or cover the hole with a lock adapter/cover.

Just got the brochures for 2009 models. In the rear, there is a picture and option for locking fuel plug...for added security. not sure if it is available yet...but if they got a picture,..it should eb on the way.

I have just bought a new fiesta and cannot believe the fuel flap does not lock. However it does appear that ford will sell a lockable filler cap which is just ridiculous.....

This is the dumbest shit yet. More stupidty to deal with. I bought a used 08 and no funnel with it when I needed it. Parts stores and gas stations do not even know what the Easy Fuel Funnel is!
