I totally agree with you and with this alternative article. "I live in a low income city (more like a town) so to stand out in this society, I will get myself a bis A$$ vehicle and disregard all the red flags that are in my face regarding the economy and environment?" I don't like these gas prices but I hope they hike their way up higher and higher to force these "Undeterred El Pasoans" to make smarter choices.

And we wonder why we are dubbed the dumbest city in America?

I went to Hoy Fox Toyota to inquire about the Prius hybrid. They had none in stock and the sales guy looked as if he knew nothing about the vehicle. I say keep the fuel prices going up. I want to finally see these wannabehickmobiles off of the road.

Incase you have not noticed El Paso is Flourishing . El Paso is the envy of all of Texas. The Bush Depression did not effect el paso because of its Democratic leadership. Long Live the Democrats

The drug business in El Paso must be good. El Paso is the only part of Mexico that is "flourishing."

Your all right! look at the shitty homes on the east side and you see a truck as big as a mortgage payment; not parked on the driveway mind you; parked in front of the house. you got more pendejos than monkeys at the zoo.

He's trying to say that El Pasoans live in plywood huts and drive $45,000 vehicles; that their vehicle is worth MORE than their house and they try to show how "rish" they are by parking where they are sure to be noticed (probably hoping that their gigantic vehicle will block the view of the shack they live in.)

They may get a great price now, but in a few years the trade in value for a gas hog will be the same as a typewriter. $.02 on the dollar

You are right. I have never quite understand this about El Paso. I have seen families with four kids living in a 2 bedroom apartment while dad spends the majority of the income to fix up an old car. It looks "charp, though. Complete with the painting of Dogs playing Poker on it.
Cars should be transportation, not a lifestyle.

Well, I personally think it is foolish to buy one of those vehiucles, unless you Really need one for your Emply. it is Sheer Idiocy to complain about the High cost of Purchasing Gasoline when you purchase a Big Truck withoutthe Need of one for Work/employment. But , as is Usual in the USA , there will be a large number that do just that. I think it more Prudent to purchase on eof the Alternate fuel/dual fuel vehicles available now- and this is already occuring. The Majority of people in the USA live in LArge metropolitian areas( i define the term "large Metro.Area" as Population over 50K for this example)who do not drive more than around town. It would be in the Best interest of these people to buy the Gas/Electric combo vehicles. But this is the USA , and everyone has the Right to Choose what they wish to buy, and complain when they decide poorly....

If you consider lots of Wal-Marts and fast food restaurants as "progress" then El Paso is the envy of the world. No one else truly appreciates low-skill, low-pay jobs quite like El Paso. Indeed, Democrats have lots of be proud of. They have succeeded in building a socilistic, third-world city out of El Paso.
