What to do about unpredictable spark plug fouling. I always start and then let motor warm up (2 min.). Just the other day though, I hadn't driven my RX8 for a couple weeks, went to start it and the plugs fouled. At the price of a set of plugs for this vehicle a guy could go Bankrupt! What to do after the warranty if Mazda can't figure it out? Shouldn't Mazda take responsability here and make sure this car is dependable and free from what I would call a Defect?

Apparently it has to do with the starter not cycling fast enough to turn the car over. It cost me $700.00 plus to have it fixed once by my local mechanic, after which I asked Mazda about it. They said they had no issues like that with this model. Less than three weeks later I got a recall notice for just the very same thing! They did fix it, but less than an hour after driving away with my "fixed" car the check engine light came on. Now I'm told it will be another $750.00 to fix an upper manifold leak. Buy a truck instead.

They have the parts backordered from Mazda to replace the intake manifold. Even though it is covered by the warrenty, I am pissed as hell. They say it will be AT LEAST another weeek before the part might come in. I am getting rid of my pretty little car. This is a sure sign of things to come. They sold us crap and it's happening to all of them. I think we need to consider a class action lawsuit

I don't know if this has anything to do with what you guys are talking about, but just today I had to have my brand new 2006 Rx8 towed! I had my oil changed about a month ago and they told me while I was there that there was a recall on the car saying that they basically had to go in and do something in the computer of the car because some were having trouble starting. Here it is a month later after that had "fixed" the problem and now my car won't start. Apparently it floods. So you can only imagine how irritated I am..I have only had the car for 3 months and I had to watch my baby get lifted up on a tow machine today!!! They could have told me this before I bought the dang thing...but of course they never do.

Now here's the fun par it had it's 3rd brand new engine at 33k. Its had 5 new computers and reflashes. The car now has 43,600 on it and tomorrow it's going in for the 4th engine...I'm so pissed about this car. I've had it in the shop 7 times in 2 months.

Does anyone know if they will just buy the hunk of garbage back? Plus it has rust all over it, from the rail dust when they shipped it..So I now owe 22,000 on a rust bucket with a bad engine...Zoom Zoom.....

I have a 2005 8 and haven't had any issues with it. It now has 20k miles on it. I check the oil and drive it every day. I have never had it flood or die on me.

I have an 04 w/ 27K on it and I haven't had any issues with mine either. Hope not to. If I ever had any engine problems like you guys are having im sure Ill just replace it with the RX-7 three rotor engine. That would work for me!

I have only had 2 flooding occurrances, first in the winter when I inadvertently turned the car off and on and in the dealers lot after the recall for flooding. My problem now is, after the car is warm, it stalls when coming to a stop, I have to keep my foot on the brake and the accelerator to prevent the stall. No engine lights come on and there are no diagnostics for the mechanic, they have no idea where to start. Has anyone had a similar experience.

This car has major engine problems and mazda is having a hard time admitting this. They recently put out a dealer only video claiming that the customer surveys will not count against the dealers for their Rx8 problems. I am having the engine replaced on my 2004 A/T after 46000 miles and numerous trips to the shop for stalling, flooding, no power etc. All i can say is document everything with this car. This is my last rotary!
