Here's a comprehensive review on the 2009 Mazda RX-8, featuring lots of info, from design and performance, to history and competition of the RX-8. Also available is a photo gallery with the sports car. "After almost eight years of production, the highly successful Mazda RX-8 will be reinvented in a completely new model. The original 2+2 doors coupe is expected to come with an all-new skin and refreshed “Zoom-Zoom” design in 2009. The dynamics are guaranteed to be better than ever for an RX model, featuring the latest generation of Mazda’s exotic Wankel rotary engine...." How can you have a review when 2009 is not even here yet??? The car does not even exist yet. You got a time machine somewhere? Can I borrow it?

Highly successful??? Go the RX8 owners forum and do some reading. This car has engine problems big time,'04 models for sure. Plenty of owners with replacement engines. Mazda needs to come up with some better engineering on any new models.

Yep, it is highly successful, the 2003 models had problems, which Mazda fixed. All of the cars since then have been excellent. I have a 2005 RX-8 and I have a 2007 350Z, I'm thinking of getting rid of the 350Z as it's absolutely useless in comparison, average handling, piss poor interior, only good thing is that is accelerates faster than a stock RX-8, doesn't come close to my RX-8 though, so it's going to be history

All i can say is BOO!!!!! to all the down players, & I wonder if they own an 8. Yes they have had problems, but as with any new model there are always kinks to be worked out and Mazda couldn't be better and helping us resolve our problems..Do you know anyone that's automatically given a lifetime extended warranty on anything mechanical, from the original 04's to the 06's....I know those that have had their engines replaced, more than once at no expense to them, and personally except for a visor breaking, I've had no problems what so ever with mine. Ya take care of a car, it takes care of you, no matter WHAT it is...

That report is a load of bowlocks. That is the small kanbura concept with a normal 4 cyclinder engine and only seats 3! Way too small to be the next rx8 which is due end of 2010.
As for loads of problems with early models, rubbish, there are members of the uk owners club which have covered 100k with no problems. Don't forget mazda have run rx8s around a race track for 24 hrs at full speed with no probs. The rx8 engine can run at nearly 13k revs all day (if the ecu would let you!) with no probs, it only self destructs due to to harmonic distortion a shade over 13k revs.

RX8 ain't perforct but it's one of the best all-round sports cars out there. I owned a 2004 and currently drive 2007. I'm a rotary driver for life.

I have an '04 RX-8 and have never experienced any of the problems that have plagued the first batch of 8's. I really think the reason is that you have to drive the rotary hard! Using that redline clears out oil deposits and prevents flooding. I have started my car, driven a block and shut it off many times with no flooding, just rev to 3500 for a few seconds and shut it off. Most of the complainers don't even own this car. Don't buy this car unless you know everything about it. We don't want you driving our car anyway.
