I have a 2001 Lincoln LS V* that needs a timing gear. It is 8 years old, and we were told by Ford that they don't make the part anymore and we can't get one either. I thought there was a law that they could not discontinue parts for a car that was less than 10 or 15 years old. Does anyone know that for sure? Of course, they want us to buy a new engine. My car is in great shape (almost like new) I don't want to junk it, I just want to fix it. Ford said that they were having problems with that engine, so they just decided to redesign one. I think it should have been a recall if they were having those kinds of problems and decided not to make parts for cars already out there. At this point, I will never buy another Ford.

Marcia: Did you ever find out what caused your car not to start? I am having the same issue with my 2003 LS (V6 Engine). Any help would be appreciated!

HELP! My 2000 Lincoln LS sporadically refuses to start after driving short/long distances in hot or cool weather. It is not a bad/low battery issue because when turning the key it just clicks - it doesn't even try to turn over-however the electrical system works fine as the stereo, power windows/locks are operational but the car just won't start. After letting the car sit for a few hours the car will start with no problem. The mystery is I don't have this problem every time I drive the car - just sometimes. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you for your help, Marcia :)

<quoted text>How low is the idle? The IAC valve controls the amount of air the engine receives for idle. Both my F150 and the 2001 LS can run at astonishingly low RPMs. If you catch the tach almost bottomed but the engine is still running, I would replace the IAC valve. Not cheap but the cheapest part and easiest installation of anything else. And the low rpm is dropping the oil pressure
I am having same issue where Oil light comes on when stopped at idle, rpm is aprox 800-900rpm. Does it sound like faulty IAC Valve? it doesnt run rough, just low idle

THe car was running fine - got my tires rotated yesterday and an oil change. Went out this morning and the car will turn over bet not start - Good power in the elec system. Does anyone know of a relay or something that prevents the gas from goin into the injectors. Seems like it isn't getting gas and the car has more that a 3/4 tank
it seems to me that now may be the time to replace the feul filter

You may have to reset your computer look in your manual it will tell you how, look under replacing battery it will tell you what you have to do by turning car on and off

My 2004 lincoln ls v8 ac system works fine around town but when you go for an extended drive the ac will quit blowing cool air and it redirects the air behind the dash and will only blow warm air?

For us, it turned out to be the starter after all. It just took a while for it to be detected. The service dept finally found the problem when the car was up on the lift and they could hear a strange sound when the starter was cranking.

i recently bought a LS at 65,000 miles. Ever since ive had it i will walk up to it at a random point during the day and the trunk and hood will be popped, weird huh? The panic will go off all on its own from time to time. And the windows will roll down on their own, when the car is off. I think my car is haunted.... no one else has had my keys.. someone tell me im not crazy.
Hey, maybe it is picking up some frequencies around - does this happen at a particular spot?

I bought a 2001 LS and the doors do not autolock when put in gear. Is there any way to turn on or off the autolock feature
If you press settings on the dash above the radio you should see the auto locks setting. I dont remember which button makes it to where you can select on or off but I know you can find it in the handbook. Thats where I found this answer to my same question.

I own a 2005 Lincoln LS V6 with 24K on it. I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem.

After the dealer changed the heater control valve I noticed the a/c fan has gotten really loud. People are commenting on the noise. Everyone had a similar experience with the a/c fan?

The plugs are in a cavity and they fire off of a coil, all expensive, you may have shorted out a coil or two, maybe damaged them, dry them out somehow and see what is doing then, hope that helps Jake
