<quoted text>My parents' car just had the same problem Saturday night (5/19/07). They're taking it to the dealer this week. Which fuse did you pull to shut off the lights?
Had a similar problem with a 99 Sable.
The switch for the interior lights is part of the latching mechanism in the door. Try spraying some WD-40 or silicon lube into the latch mechanism and see if that works. Did for me.

My 2001 LS V8 just had the ABS light come on. I'm the original own of the car and it has 85,000 miles. The owners manual says that the brakes are working (which they are) cause I'm able to sit at my laptop and type this to you, but it also says the ABS part of the breaking system isn't. Could this just be a sensor of some sort or am I looking at a possible horror story? Any thoughts? Anyone?
If the brakes are still operational then it's one of the wheel sensors

I hope this will help some people who are having a hard start problem. My 01 LS V8 had a mind of its own, when to start and when to crank crank crank then start. I searched for months and months on which issues have been addressed. The fuel pump, the PCM, ignition switch, and the fuel injectors. And over a week ago I found one more cause to the no start issue, the IAC(Idle Air Control) Valve. Easy to take out and very easy to put back in, 10 mins TOPS. Try and search on google for this and you will find out that it will cause bad idle, and no starts. And Ford is known for this part to get very dirty and get stuck on occasion or, during a very cold day, just get stuck. Hope this helps someone out. So before changing Fuel Injectors that cost 50-150 bucks each, and will take you hours of labor, try this out.
Thanks Adam. I had the IAC fixed and my hard start problem has diminished for the most part EXCEPT on two occasions when it was night time and really cold. Have you or anyone else still had this issue?

I am wondering since the IAC helped the problem, what might be the next step?

It is likely that your dual climate control valve has gone bad.

my engine is now making a rattling noise (it sounds like the engine is overheating but it isn't). Is the catalitic converter issue? It has been to the dealer 3 times and they are clueless. They have changed the transmission sensor but this did not improve the transmission performance. Count me in as a petitioner in any potential litigation. This car is a lemon. What site are the catalitic converters located?

My 2000 Linclon LS has been acting as though it has overheated. When I pull over for 3-5 minutes, the indicator light goes off and then the car resumes as usual. It is real nerve wrecking and I don't know what to do. When I'm in route the temp gauge slowly goes up and I turn on the heat and it brings it back normal.
I am afraid that it will too expensive if I take it to the dealership. ANY SUGGESTIONS????
I HAVE A 2002 LS V8 AND I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM.
THE TEMP GAUGE WOULD REGISTER HOT I HAD NO HEAT AND IT WOULD BARELY RUN WHEN THE TEMP LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD ONE OF MY TECHS AT THE CHRYSLER DEALER I WORK AT CHECK IT OUT. I REPLACED THE T-STAT WHICH HELPED BUT DIDNT FIX THEN THE TECH JUST STARTEDSNAPPING THE THROTTLE REPEATEDLY UNTIL THE COOLING SYSTEM RELIEVED A AIR POCKET.NO TROUBLE SINCE.
HOPE THAT WILL HELP YOU GOOD LUCK.

same trouble with my 02'
my issue was an air pocket in the heater system.
try snapping the throttle a few times and see if you can jolt an air pocket out.
good luck

Pull the Valve cover and see if there is oil leaking into the coil boots and/or plug holes. No matter how many times you change out the firing coils they will get fouled if you have a leaky valve cover. Change the valve cover gaskets and check your firing coils and plugs for any oil after that. Good luck!!!

Eric,
I have the same problem with #4 not firing. Replaced the coil twice, same error. Replaced the spark plug. Same Error. I was told it could be several problems. Injector was miss firing, electronic signal messed up, no electronic signal, bad compression. I know it is getting gas as the plug reeked with gas when I pulled it. It seems to be intermittent as the check engine light (CEL) stays on for days and then off for a day, and back on for several days again. The Ford dealer told me to replace coils one and five (they wanted $480) to solve this problem. I did and eight new plugs. Found out by another mechanic the problem is cylinder #4. When we pulled the valve cover it had a brand new coil. Replaced that coil , same problem still.
Now it cranks over for about 30 seconds at times when I try and start it, other times it starts right-up.
If you have any ideas and find (or have found) a solution for your LS, let me know.

P.S. It is not everyday the Ford dealer sells you a car that the check engine light comes on minutes after you drive it off the lot.

<quoted text>I think you have to get into the trunk to release the seats to fold them down. I just replaced my 2000 V8 battery and to keep power to the system while switching batteries, I plugged power from my motorcycle battery into the cigarette lighter socket. This might work for you to get enough power to unlatch your trunk.
I just want to know how you did this because i have the same problem as the huy wo made the first comment. My battery is dead and i cant get in the trunk....

My 2006 Lincoln LS self accelerated and hit the tree I was parked in front of. The dealer Liccardi Auto Group located in 130 Rt 22 West, GreenBrook, NJ is where I bought this lemon. I'm fighting to get my money back or trade it in for a different car.
Be very careful if you own or thinking of buying a Lincoln LS
My 2004 LS V8 has done the same thing. Once, while stopping in a line of traffic, it surged forward and was attempting to overpower the brakes. I stopped only because I threw it into neutral. Another time, it surged right through a pedestrian light and over a crosswalk in Boston. Luckily there were no pedestrians or they would have been dead.
In two visits, the dealer can find nothing wrong with it. Ford Motor Company waited for the warrantee to expire and told me that it is now my problem, not theirs. Great customer relations.
I would like to know how yours was repaired as we are getting afraid to drive this time bomb.

Louis, I also have a 2001 LSV8 with the exact error. Tranny guy says it could be a PCC solenoid?, but thinks it may take a few hours to diagnose. I will probably just take it to my local dealer for diagnosis. If you get any further info, please reply.

My 2002 LS is running really rough, especially when ideling. The engine lite came on and will not go out. The computer results shows to lean.
Does anyone know the amount of fuel pressure it should have? Or what may cause this problem. My fuel mileage as dropped from 22 city to 12mpg.

i recently bought a LS at 65,000 miles. Ever since ive had it i will walk up to it at a random point during the day and the trunk and hood will be popped, weird huh? The panic will go off all on its own from time to time. And the windows will roll down on their own, when the car is off. I think my car is haunted.... no one else has had my keys.. someone tell me im not crazy.
I have the same problem with mine. My windows go down and the sunroof opens. My temperature gage shows that the vehicle is hot and then drops back to normal on its own. When I turn on the air conditioner I get heat. It's Winter and I now have no heat. My car is in the shop again. No more Lincolns for me. I had these things checked while the vehicle was under warranty but they were not fixed. Now it is costing me a fortune. Talk about haunted!!

I have a 2000 LS 3.9 V8. I bought if from my brother 2 years ago. The CHECK ADVANCETRAC light comes on periodically and stays on. Does the computer need to be "reflashed" or what does this indicate? When my brother owned it, he had to replace the plastic clips on both back windows because they busted. I absolutely love this car! I love everything about it, but it seems lately that all the problems are coming at one time. Smoke comes out from under the hood often and smells like burnt oil. I am assuming this means new valve cover gaskets are needed. Estimates have not been cheap. I also have a rattling coming from the front of the car. Does anyone know what this is? I have been told it could be the ball joints which again is not a cheap fix. Occasionally, I have had the thermostat only blow out hot air on very hot summer days. This only happens once in a blue moon though. Does anyone know what this issue is? I have had to replace the tires once myself and that was about a $600 cost. I also had all the spark plugs replaced for preventative maintainence and it has been doing great. This really has been a wonderful car, but I am not sure about these few issues. Could someone please let me know their experience with any one or more of these issues I have mentioned?
