well if your engine is slipping and it kinda jerks when you drive it and the check engine light is on that prolly means your ignition coils went out which cost a minimum of like a hundred to fix for each of them and usually if you only fix one the rest of them are bound to go out so you might wanna fix all of them the same thing happened to my car the people told me this was a common problem with lincoln ls

FYI All people with misfires from coils. First off they are called COP's for short that means coil on plug, they are not coil packs. Packs mean more then one. Also please stop crying that you have a junk car when most are 2000's thats 9 years old now people. Also since there 9 years old just replace all 6 cops on 6cly's and all 8 cops on V8's. They are very very cheap on Ebay. I bought all 6 for 140 dollars and I think the set of 8 are only 150. Thats only 18.75 per cop.

Trying to diagnose prob on 01 LS V8. Few months ago noticed it shifting rough betw 40+mph -high 50's mph. Ran smooth above and below. Prob not there all the time betw 42-58...but mostly present. Repair shop could find no problem. Coming home other eve it felt different, not smooth shifting at other speeds. Took to reg garage, they said tranny. Took to tranny shop, they concurred. Need to replace/rebuild tranny. They say trouble shifting into 2nd and 5th gears (but that's not where prob was before)...could this problem be something other than tranny? Not sure I want to invest in tranny and find other prob. Welcome input. thanks!

You might want to look into if Ford reflashed the compute in your car for shifting problems. I think I read there was a TSB on this. The computer controls everything in the trans on these.

I currently have a 2001 Lincoln LS V8. As we speak its in the shop getting preliminary testing done. My transmission has had many of the same problems described in other posts, i.e. going into gear roughly, loss of power between 40 to 50 mph, idling roughly, and sputtering around 50mph. With all these problems happening to so many people, how is there not a recall? Lincoln has to be aware of all of these similar problems. Any advice from anyone concerning my best and most cost-effective way to go about this? This is the last american car I EVER buy!

Hi, I have a 2001 Lincoln LS as well, and the vehicle has been stalling/jumping when put into 3rd gear for about 3 months. I was told a while ago to replace my coil by the dealership, but I have not due to I did not think of the importance of the problem ( I dont know why I thought that.. so crazy!!) now my check tranmission light has come on and the engine symbol is showing- it drives but it really doesnt want to go- Im taking the vehicle to the transmission place later this afternoon to have whatever needs to be replaced- OMG!! more $$ Uggh

I have a 2002 lincoln LS V8... We have 53,500 miles on the car and already we have had to replace serp. belt, alternator, battery, and the car just came from the repair shop for tranny problems... Our mechanic is very knowledgable on vehicles and recognized the complicity of the 02 LS... He talked to the Ford dealership,(unofficially of course) and found out that they don't have any technicians that are qualified to work on these transmissions, so they try to sell you a reman tranny for 3200.00 with labor rates on top of that...Ford is so proud that they didn't take any stimulus money, they don't have to , they are taking from loyal customers.....Where are ALL THE RECALLS ????????

Lynne wrote: Just told my 2002 LS needs a $3500 new transmission at only 57,000 miles. Check transmission light has come on periodically since 29,000 miles. Have brought to dealer & they could not find any problem until of course I need a new transmission. Anyone with similar issues? Thanks. My '05 LS had an "E" where the D should be and the check transmission light came on. Took it in and dealer said I need a new torgue converter solenoid.$650. Have to check trans fluid from underneath.
