I have a 2000 lincoln LS.What in the world is the brown bag on my engine?

I am also wondering about the brown bag is it right below the intake and have mice chewed it to pieces. My 3.9 liter will not start after repacing battery! ANYONE CARE TO HELP?

Did you check the fuses and relays?

Yes I checked the fuses and Im not sure how to check a relay but they appear to be fine I have not put a volt meter to it. But I was thinking about dragging it in the garage and taking the top half apart to clean the mouse nest out and replacing valve cover gaskets I recently replaced coils and plugs later to find the gaskets are causing my problems.
im also going to relace the I.A.C. valve Because it will start If I disconnect the battery But then it dies like its not idling right
