I saw one on Ebay but you have to change trans to and most likely go carbed. NOT worth it in any way. The 302 HO makes 225HP the 3.0L makes 210hp gen1 to 232HP gen2.

My 2000 Ls 3.0 has a blown head gasket, otherwise is good. I have been a Ford Tech 40 years, just hate taking the head off and the cam drive. Is there any easy way to hold the timing chin and sprocket when I remove the head?/ thaksn,Hnery

Why do you say it has a blown head gasket?? I have never ever heard of that happening on this engine. But easy way to lock motor so it don't roll is take off other valve cover and put 2 big wrenches one on each cam(hex on cams) so they cross and then clamp the 2 wrenches together. Hence locking the engine in #1 TDC which you should have brought it up to. I know you know this just adding for other peeps.

I bought my 2000 LS with a blown V6. The Gen1 used V6 engines are pricey. Gen2 ones cheap!! But cannot swap.I got my engine off Ebay for 600 it was a Ford 500 mile prototype test engine. Looked freakin brand new inside!!

Personally do the 302 swap... here is one of my favorite 302 builds...
302 Mexican block bored. 030 over 4.030 bore by 3 inch stroke... forged steel crank eagle ESP rods... forged pistons by SRP 10:1 cr... heads SB Ford man o war heads from world with 230+ something CC runners ported to match intake with 64cc combustion chambers roller rockers.. aluminum water pump... cloyes true double roller chain... MSD billet distributor w 6al box blaster 2 coil... the cam shaft go big or go home it would be retarded advanced duration 294/306 lift. 554/.558 we are talk a lil Ford screamer all the way to 7500 rpm with well over 500 HP no nitrous... the intake your choice but for hood clearance either a lowrise single plain competition intake with a really good 850cfm Carb or a extrude honed cobra r intake with a bent elbow For clearance 24/hr injectors 75mm tb.. now transmission I run a built c4 maybe a c6 3500 to 4000 stall... I have had good luck with c6 in the past my 4200 lb bb powered torino runs 11.90s with one... the 3.9l engine good stock but Ford serious power they will not hold up with out major major special parts... the rods are pushing it at 400 HP and boost will melt one of these AJ motors fast with outbeing rebuilt for boost apps... btw the 93 lx was grossly detuned from the factory add these on to a stock fox body cold air intake... headers... bump timing to 34°... throttle body and better tuned Mass air sensor... 4.10 gears wow a stock car in the 12s...

Try getting that car to get an inspection sticker(my state and all others around) good luck. Oh course 302's can be built up. If he is trying to do this to SAVE money tell me how spending all this money on 302 gets him out of pinch. Good luck with a heavy power robbing C6 also. WOW

Also 87-93 fox's where not detuned. You can't make big power with ports so tiny you can barely get your finger in exh port. I would love to see a stock 5.0 with just 4.10's headers timing bump and MAf do 12's.

You are full of crap... try throwing over450 HP on a stock rod 3.9l... and yes the stock 302 ho engine was very very detuned from the factory... most came out from the factory I mean all the ones I have seen with timing way way lower... with the 5.0l power was insanely easy... and the port issue is that your only fall back... you must have not seen any AFR heads or twisted wedge heads... plus lets not forget the Cleveland engines... ports on the 4v model so large you can put 2 packs of cigarettes in too... but anyways on to transmissions the C6 is to a point indestructible... this is a tranny I run personally in a torino that's is a 11.80 1/4 mile 119 trap speed with 1.48 60 foot time... we all know the c6 robs power duh it's a automatic all autos rob power.. but mine its filled with tci internals and a 3000 rpm stall... would a newer 5 speed auto hold up where a 580 ft/lb stroked 11.1:1 compression Cleveland lies I doubt it... for a competition LS I would go a small block 302 backed by a c6 or a TKO there is limits to these motors in them... oh btw here in the south where I live emissions laws are very lax I reg my torino on the street pass inspection and everything... so if your in one of them green states like Cali you can't do what I told you.. just about any other place knock your self out...

I can fit my finger in the port of a Windsor and even touch the valve stem... I feel sorry for you fat rolls on your fingers...

So you want an older guy that wants a stock street car to build a complete stroker SBF spending how much money??? Then you want him to install a trans that eats 60 HP with NO overdrive. Then you want him to fab motor mnounts and HEADERS. Then change out the driveshaft. And now you want him to run it to a stock 8.0 inch rear end. Then you want to leave him with a car that will never get inspection sticker to be legal on the street? When this guy can buy stock replacement engine and be running for 800 bucks

Your not getting why i'm telling him to stick stock. For 1 I have been building and racing my stang since the 80's. My best 302 N/A 1/4 et was 10.76 in 1989 my best 351 et was 9.83@137 in 1991. My new best is 9.29@147 on motor.I never said 302 suck or are junk I have many.

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship. You may also have to make a tricky decision about a child or a creative project. Although this won't be a very easy time, don't make it worse by over-reacting and turning every hitch into a major drama.
