Hey Mateja, you really are a local, aren't you? Don't call Land Rover "Rover" -- Rover is (or was as of 2005) a totally different UK car company.

Hey Mateja, Ya wrinkle-faced buck-toothed old mummy, stop whining about Tata buying Jaguar & LR. If ya got half a brain why don't ya get off yer old wheel chair, and put together a $2 billion+ bid for the two companies. Until then keep yer yeller belly tucked inside.

Hey moron man, stop fear-mongering. Jaguar & Land Rover is still going to be manufactured in the same place - good old England, with the same people in charge. If anything there will be more money coming in in the form of investment, and sales in growing markets. So stop being so green (with envy)- an Indian company will finally be showing Western car companies how to sell cars - and what more you can do nothing about it. PS: whining won't get u anywhere.

Wow! JM is popular in Sydney & Inja? Nice to be world wide. Mr. Kapoor has hopes for the current generation,a nd apologizes for mispellings? Most of the current generation can't define "acquire, let alone use it in a sentence.

P.S. Got a Jag and a Jeep, am happy with both. A real Land Rover is a "Defender," all others soccer mom cars!

Surprised a large company has been bought by a third world company. Time to wake up, America!

You don't own America any more. Bushenomics has seen to that.

But first things first. We all still have our Silverado addiction, so Mr. Bush and all his Auto/Oil cartel buddies can continue to loot our country.

And what is Jim Mateja doing by pushing a vehile that gets 16 MPG?

If he is smart, he is getting a cut, under the table, from "the boys".

If he is pushing something that is destroying our country for nothing, then he is just another common dealer/pusher, trying to make as many of you junkies as possible!

P.S. They got ya hooked, America. The cost for your fix is going up and your standard of living is going down the toilet.

Remember, a car in front of you is another jerk for you to pass, right??

Jim
I read your column regularly, and was happy to click on the LR2 HSE headline as I expected a fair review.
What greeted me was a sloppy and weird banter of an opinionated and bigoted mind?!? What went wrong Jim? Too much vodka? or Did you lose your maturity over the weekend?
A seriously ailing FORD, who BTW wasted a ton of $$$, hurt their own employees, and put out crappy vehicles, is finally making sensible business choices, and all you can put forth is this? If you were even an amateur auto aficionado, you would not call TATA as 'unknown'.
I am disappointed in your column, and hope you wake up. I found it in bad taste, much negative and heavily opinionated (time will tell when the buyers say ta-ta to TATA). You, of all, should seriously retire.

Try and make a deal on the LR2 and they won't budge on the price.
And like other dealers your trade is not worth as much as you think as they say.
I looked , I drove , I tried to get the price down and walked away.
Not much for too much!

Rude sales person also!

hey guys, think of it this way!!!!! when i was in New York for 3 months, i saw huge cars....primary mode of conveyance!!! bikes were more or less used as toys, just for weekend trips probably....forgive me if i am wrong here. back in india, bikes are a mode of conveyance...so whats more safe a tata nano or a bike with 4 ppl sitting on it....and tata buying Jaguar and LR. only time will tell. i cant be over optimistic but neither will i be a pessimist!!!

Dear Jim
Your comments on the Landrover were good. However, your aside on Tata and the Nano were off colour and take away from your otherwise wonderful automotive journalism.

Bob, by standard of living, do you mean our ability to buy mass quantities of foreign made electronics, apparel, autos, etc?

We have a consumer driven economy that is held afloat by over-consumption. Americans can only borrow so long before they have to start paying back (and cutting consumption).

Hey Mateja, you looks stupid man you have no knowledge about TATA's and their integrity. They are not like stupid American Corporate people and idiotic American politicians. They have clean history and in future you know not only your IT but also your Auto Industry survives with "Third world" presense.
Pls retire man you are sick man now.

Jim,

Your grammar is the worst of any Trib columnist. Try starting sentences with nouns; you will like it.
