I own a 2002 with 40,000 miles and am looking at a third transmission. Heater core also cracked and replaced in Jul 2006. Now have a cracked coolant container and have to replace that, too.
I think LR should put the third trans in for me. Do I have legs to stand on????

I have an 03 freelander, I have had every problem imagineable with this car. I thought I had just picked a lemon, but apparently there are alot of owners having the same exact problems. Land Rover North America, has treated me so poorly & basically blamed me for all of the problems I've had with my freelander. I urge any Freelander or Land Rover owner to contact & complain to the FTC. The Freelander is not a safe car, It has died on me going 70 MPH on the highway, I had no steering, no brakes, no control of anything. My brake lights went out & the switch was on recall, a recall that had been recalled twice. I called Land Rover N.A. thier response was "Drive your other car." I don't have another car, unfortunately. the next response was "Drive carefully!" Thanks alot, I always do. The back passenger side window dropped & shattered with my 2 yr old niece sitting next to it. The gear motor had twisted around itself & busted, they wanted $500 to fix it. I replaced the engine at 48,000 miles it was still under the original factory warranty. Land Rover squirmed there way out of that one, they stated that It was negligence on my part, improper care & maintenance. I had all of the paper work to prove that I had done everything according to thier maintenance schedule. They had my car for 6 months, I got a rebuilt engine and paid $6,500.00 plus the rental car fee's that Land Rover stated that they would not cover, once again due to my negligence that was another $3000.00. Ive replaced the fuel pump, once again after the car stalled on me in the middle of a busy intersection in the middle of the night, I was on call & had to get to the hospital & my job was jeopardized, due to patient abandonement. You can e-mail landrover_lawsuit@hotmail.com we are trying to start a class action lawsuit. I think if we can convince the FTC that this car is a consumer nightmare & that its not safe to be driven we will get a better response. feel free to e-mail me pccdrive@yahoo.com. I am doing everything I can to get rid of the money pit, unreliable, POS, that LR has completely washed there hands of.

Hi, we are having the same problem with our 02 freelander too! The transmission died during rush hour traffic stuck for an hour in the center lane at 46,000 miles this is ridiculous! They said the car is not covered under warranty because the coverage is for 3yrs or 50k miles. What a joke! They made it seem like I screw it up or something can't help you but would you like to buy another Land Rover new piece of junk that will also break down in a few years. This car is worst than the Yugo or the AMC Pacer! We will try and find a way to file a class action with these people there are too many people out there with the same issues to say it only happened to you. I am afraid to pony up 6,000 bucks and find out I will need to spend another 5 grand to fix the motor next. BTW my passenger window went too and so did the third brake light!

My car engine just died and it’s still under warranty. I brought it to the dealer and they wanted to see all my service records. They wanted me to pay $1200 to look at the engine in order to determine if it was my fault or theirs and then began nick picking over little things like I should have replaced my timing belt at 72,000 miles. My car is at 73,000. I brought it in because it wouldn’t start and also to have the fuel pump replaced due to the recall. They replaced the start but stopped working on it when they thought the engine was the issue. Let me know what I need to do. I still have the car. I just got the oil changed, passed inspection and emission and replaced the thermostat for the 3rd time but the car no longer runs. I would like them to honor the warranty but am not willing to gamble $1200 away for it.

Totally looking for a lawsuit. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi my name is Tiffany Long. I just bought a 2002 Freelander from Northwest Investment Cars. I paid $10,000 cash. I did not buy an extended warranty at the time of the sale because I found a cheaper deal that covered more. I drove the car that night to Great Wolf Lodge approximately 100 mile from my home for a business meeting. As I was getting ready to leave the check engine light came on and then I turned the car off. Turned the car back on and the light turned off. I drove less than a mile on the freeway and the car wont accelerate. So I pulled over read the manual and it states that IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND YOU TURN THE CAR OFF THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND THE LIGHT TURNS OFF IT IS OK TO DRIVE TO YOUR DESTINATION. I did what it said. Then as I get home, unpack, then go to start the car again it wont turn over, it just makes a loud noise like it is the starter. So then the dealership tells me to have it towed back to them and they will look at it. They tell me I need a new engine and that they would install it for free if I bought it. I asked them for help to buy one used and they said no. You have to buy it. The engine runs for $4000-$7000. I could not believe what I was hearing and I have been on the phone with everybody to figure this out and I even spoke to my attorney and he said there is nothing I can do.
Thats my story. I only had the car for less than 24hrs and now it still sits at the dealership with the engine apart. I found that on Edmunds.com there is a lot of others with similar problems.
I had two kids in the car when this happened. I was stuck on the side of the freeway at night with no help. My husband was an hr away. Freelander is a defective product and Land Rover needs to accept the facts and give us our money back. I had an attorney look into it unfortunately I don't have a leg to stand on..I bought the car as is that is a risk with buying a used car he tells me. So I am out 10,000 that was an expensive rental car.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Libra

If you're invited to a party or gathering today and you don't know whether to go, you should. You'll have a terrific time and you might meet someone who always makes your knees go weak. Even if it's a perfectly harmless flirtation and you're both happily committed to other people, it will still do your ego good to have a tantalizing conversation with this person.
