700 jobs heading to LaGrange

LaGrange has landed the largest Kia supplier so far -- in terms of jobs and investment.
Sewon Precision, based in Daegu, South Korea, will create 700 jobs and invest $170 million over three years. The company, which is the fifth official Kia supplier to locate to Georgia, will produce stamped chassis and body components for the Kia plant in West Point, Ga.
The tier-one supplier will build a 420,000-square-foot building on a 65-acre site at the Callaway South Industrial Park in Troup County. Construction will begin in spring 2008, and mass production will start in fall 2009. The Kia plant is expected to begin vehicle production in November 2009. Read more
