I would like to hear from anyone who has had a problem with their 2005 Sorento Manual Transmission.

My Sorento has a highly intermittent shifting problem: from time to time we can't shift gears or get the car to move which puts us in a very unsafe situation.

When KIA test drives, it hasn't duplicated so they will not do anything further. KIA has refused to check out the problem. The message they are sending to me is they put more value in their rules than in our lives.

Have reported to KIA Inc. & NHTSA.

We continue to drive an unsafe vehicle and hesitate trading/selling because we do not want to pass an unsafe vehicle to an unsuspecting consumer. But we may have no choice if KIA refuses to take responsibility for their vehicle.

I am a very dissatisfied KIA consumer.

My wife had this problem today and was stuck in the middle of traffic when this happened. Went to shift into 1st, but the gear shift was stuck in 5th. Luckily, two guys pushed her to the side of the road, and finally after a few tries, she was able to get it out of 5th.... It's been fine the rest of the day. My concern is that Kia won't do anything until they can reproduce the problem... Thanks for the post!

I had this very problem today with my 2007 Sorento. It got stuck in third gear. I drove it to the dealer I bought it from. There they told me that a component which guides the gear lever must be replaced. It's a big job as the gearbox must be removed to do this. I'll be without the car for a few days, but if it get sorted I don't mind.

I bought a 06' sorento with only 10,000 miles on it. Had it a week before the transmission went. It is currently at the dealership getting fixed. At first they said they were going to replace the transmission, now they have it torn apart to see if it can be fixed without replacement. It's already been 7 days and they don't know when it will be done. I'm think I'm getting screwed.

They replaced my transmission right after I bought it..... When sitting idling and in neutral, it sounded like it was going to fly apart. It STILL SOUNDS LIKE ITS GOING TO FLY APART!!!! This is my first and last Kia purchase.
Don't buy a Kia, Buy anything else....
