My 2002 Liberty stalls out the second I pull it out of park, or if I'm stopped at a red light. If I get it out of park and give it gas, it's fine. It can run forever on the highway. The only time I come across an issue, is when I'm slowing down, coming to a complete stop, or pulling it out of park/reverse. It's a problem with how my car is idling, but the Jeep dealership I took it to wants me to replace the whole transmission. Of course it's not under warranty, and they're trying to sell me on a brand new transmission with a 3 yr warranty, etc etc etc. Needless to say, the mechanic I spoke with on the phone regarding this was less than professional with me on the phone so I went researching online. I keep coming across postings with people having the same type of issues with their Jeeps stalling out at the same times, and still can't feel a real clear cut answer as to what is going on and how to fix the issue.
Prior to this I loved my Jeep, and all I'd like is to be able to get it back fixed, without costing me an arm and a leg. Anyone have any ideas, suggestions?

My 2005 Liberty service engine light came on at 41000 miles. Dealer replaced a fuel injector. Light came on again. Now they say there is a service bulletin about cabon build up causing the problem. According to the bulletin a cleaning agent should be run through the system, Get this up to 10 times may be needed. Problem didn't start until I filled up with gas and notice the small flipper in the fill tube was gone. Gas cap needs to be place properly because it a closed system. With the flipper gone, there are two small holes where the hinge used to be. Dealership thinks I'm nuts. Anyone else have these problems and are missing that little flipper?

FYI, chrysler made the Liberty to be able to start (not idle though) with a dead battery. If your Liberty is stalling or only running when you give it gas, change your battery first. Then go from there.

My 2007 POS Liberty has 2,100 miles on it already it has had a BAD water leak that left about 2 inches of water on the pass side. Now when you turn the jeep all the way to the right it makes a loud noise and stalls out what a POS JEEP should be ashamed of them selves for putting out a product like that! Also what a gas guzzler!!!

Haven't had too many problems with my 04 Limited until now. No warning lights no nothing. Serviced car Oct 24th. There was a small oil leak but nothing else unusual and that stopped. Yesterday....stopped at a red light. Car engine or something was making a grinding noise and smoke was coming out from under the hood. Exhaust emitting smoke also. Lucky was near a Vavoline Lube. When they opened the hood there was almost no antifreeze. Then checked under the car since there was almost no oil. Couldn't even find where it was leaking. Took 3 qts of oil!!! No warnings no nothing. Called dealer and they were nasty. Big deal...I have the 7/70 powertrain extended service plan which will probably not make much difference. The car....3yrs 7mos. I did love it till now. Almost ready to go back to bimmers and pay the big price for service etc. Atleast they treat you like royalty. Anyone else have this problem? Especially warning system.

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty. Don't think for a minute that the Ball Joint Recall has been fixed. I've had it worked on 2 seperate times already and it seems that I have to have the Ball Joint replaced every 2 years. Now in 2008, i'm experiencing steering problems again.

I have a 2003 3.7L Jeep Liberty Limited. I have had severaly minor problems with this vehicle. One being that one of the metal parts securing the driver's seat to the ground has broken, making it shift and shake and probably isn't that safe either. Another problem would be that the blower no longer works either. It began a while ago, and started when only the 4(high) setting worked. Then, all of the settings stopped working, which really wasn't fun as it happened during the winter. I have been told by a friend that it is the resistor and I am going to be getting it fixed soon. But my primary concern is the four wheel drive, or at least it would seem that it is the fwd that is having the problem. When I turn the 4wd in, it seems to work fine, but once I begin to hit 15-25mph, I can hear a noticeable clanking. It increases in speed as I do. The 4wd continues to work but the noice concerns me and I am afraid that using the 4wd continually could worsen the problem.

2008 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 four door Sahara. I have had this Jeep for less than 2 months. I was in line for a car wash so I shut it down. When it was time to move, I tried to start it, but nothing. Plenty of battery power, but not even a click. When buttons on key pushed, it would not lock the doors. Hazards would not work. On the dash I get "NO BUS". I cant find any information about this for a NEW Jeep. Can anyone give me some information on this? Thanks

Please Help! I have an 04' Liberty, Limited. For the last month or so, there has been a strange noise. It seems to be coming from in front of the center dash somewhere!! It sounds like "bbburrmm" weird..I know!! Of course it never makes the sound when I take it in. It makes the sound when I am going under 30mph, in park (idle), in drive thrus, redlights and even sometimes right after I turn my car off. Has anyone ever had anything like this at all???? Thanks so much!!

Ive got a Nov'03 Jeep Liberty petrol, which up until 2 weeks ago has only had one fault and that was my battery exploded, showering the bonnet & motor in acid. When the auto battery guys arrived they said it has been happening with jeeps. Well 2 weeks ago driving the car I noticed a high pitched whirring sound coming from the transmission, I pulled over, the noise stopped and when I tried to start again I had NO TRANSMISSION, but the motor revved as I tried to accelerate away. Jeep Care towed the car, the dealer said it was a need to "reset the computer" and nothing I could do. They guaranteed it would likely never happen again. Well 2 hrs ago it has happened again, pulled up at a set of lights, and then when I tried to accelerate away from lights the engine is revving but no transmission at all. Turned motor off and on and the transmission is working again but fails within seconds. Towed away again. Much to my disappointment the tow driver tells me its a common thing for both Jeeps and BMW's aaarrrggghhh...why didnt they tell me before I bought it!
