Jeep Wrangler
Jeep Wrangler CRD
If there's anything like consensus among Jeep fans, it's that a CRD version is long overdue.

A diesel jeep is a good idea, but Daimler chrysler products consistently deliver poor gas mileage. Just look at the Jeep grand cherokee. It gets 25 mpg highway while the BMW X5 gets 35. I will wait until toyota or honda come out with a diesel.

Unforunately, in the US, we little to no choices for diesels. It would be nice to see many other car companies bring their diesels to these shores. I think competition is a good thing.
I'd love to see a diesel wrangler again.(They made them in the 1960's) |

I'd love to have a diesel available in the US. The mileage power and torque will be a much welcomed improvement over another soft-ute like the Compass.
Jeep should stick with what they are experts at doing - building superior off-road vehicles. |

GM is soon to come out with a new line of diesels. They have 4.4 litre diesel V8, and a 2.9 litre diesel just released in geneva.

my brother's sister-in-law (my sister-out-law) has hands-on confirmation that DC is already putting the 3.0CRD into select test wranglers ... notibly, it will be OFFERED in the '08 jeep unlimited 2 door ...
The question is what kind of mileage it'll get. I'd be more impressed if they put it in the dakota. |
DC should atleast allow people to order their '08 Wranglers from the factory with the Diesel engines. I am sure they will be surprised by the amount of orders they would get.
I just hope they release them in the NA market also. I would love to get a GM powered by a Diesel. |

Same here. I emailed GM and asked if the 08 silverado 1500 is going diesel. They said they are working on one, but its not ready yet. The F150 is supposed to go diesel in 09 with a 3.6 litre diesel.

I was thinking more along the line of GM passenger cars, crossover suv's, and the larger suv's. The big turnoff for me is the diesel engine option means an extra $5k-$7k more.
I just hope they spread the wealth. Make diesel optional on cars, crossovers (Lambda platform), and larger suv's. Just don't make it that you have to spend thousands extra to get it.
I just hope they offer diesels in GM cars and suv's (i.e. Tahoe, Acadia, etc). |

I just hope they offer diesels in the suv's (i.e. Acadia, Tahoe, etc), and the cars they offer. |

That they will offer them in their cars, that I cannot say. It would be a good idea, thats why I don't think it will happen. I know the suburban is going diesel in 2008, but its the 6 litre truck engine. But rest assured Honda and Toyota will offer diesels. I know the honda odyssey is scheduled to go diesel in 2009, and a 4 cylinder diesel into the caravan soon. And I believe the Honda accord is going diesel in 2009 or 2010.

I hope they hook a 6 speed to the diesel in the suburban to boost the MPG. I just hope GM offers the diesel engine in more of its vehicles in the coming years. Would love to get my hands on a Diesel V6 Acadia.

I don't know for sure if they will offer a diesel wrangler in the US for 08 but I do know without question there are diesel wranglers. There are long wheel base (4 Door), Short Wheel base (Two Door), Right hand drive, and left hand drive of each, and Gas And Diesel of each. 8 models total, So where those LHD Diesels are going I don't know but they definately exist. |

A diesel acadia should get in the low 30's for mileage. But I figure the japanese will beat them to the punch. |

If you're waiting for GM, you'll be waiting a long time. GM is on the decline, along with Ford and Dodge. They still think people want huge SUV's. Gas is $3 a gallon and headed to $4. I own a pickup and am looking for something more gas efficient. But I will buy a Toyota or Honda before another GM or Ford. |
I do want Huge suv's and trucks. They are needed to do the work I do, plain and simple.
