As soon as the 3 year 36,000 mile warentee saw up things started to go wrong.. The air went out replaced condenser $400.00.... After that the death wobble $140.00 stablizer and rotation balance labor. Still had the wobble replaced stock upper and lower control arms ball joints and stablizer all stock brand new ... it was OK for 2 months the wobble is back.
I love the Jeep ..Jeep THANG..Jeep Image but having to keep up with the maintenance is terrible, scarry, and not safe. I will not buy another Jeep Product again I am getting a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 instead. Oh and just today the air conditionar is out again that was the last staw. I guess it is true what they say the best two days in the life of a Jeep owner is the day you buy your jeep and the day you trade it in for a Toyota Truck.

I stoped and pulled over. nothing loose or broken. Has any one had this happen to them? please let me know @ dlong999@hotmail.com and post on here as well.
What I believe happened happens all the time in multiple 4x4's. You probably threw a wheel weight. Something as simple as one not hammered on just write will be thrown on a large bump. Let me know what it was. Wifey and I ordered an 08 4dr Rubicon.

Sorry you've had such bad luck with your Jeep. But as a service advisor for a local auto repair shop, Jeeps have much less service requirments and issues than a Toyota pickup. Plus Toyota's cost a heck of a lot more in parts and repairs due to the fact that they are mostly dealer only parts unlike a Jeep. The new one coming will be our 14th Jeep. Hope it helps.

So it's been a couple of months and 5,000 miles since I experienced the "death wobble" (I love that term) and had it repaired. The problem was the steering stablizer. Since this issue has been fixed I have had absolutely no problems with my 07 Unlimited and I'm now up over 13K miles. I think what we're all seeing is the usual first model-year bugs. At this point I would be willing to recommend this vechicle to anyone, especially those who have owned older Jeeps.
I agree with you completely. For example, when the 99 Grand Cherokee was new for that year, Wifey and I had some issues like the rotors consistantly warping and causing a shudder when braking feeling. When my father bought a 00 Grand Cherokee, with the exact same options, that problem never happened.

Has anyone had problems with "thumping" in the steering. My 2007 4 door, 2wd Jeep Wrangler (3k miles)in the shop for 1 week for repair of this problem. They replaced the tie rod and steering geer box and still the issue remains. I love my Jeep but am wondering if I got a first year "lemon". Any comments?

Our Jeep suddenly vibrates violently at highway speeds with no warning. Took it in numerous time and they keep replacing the rotors. They can't duplicate the problem, and are unwilling to take the Jeep back. I am taking them to Florida Lemon Law Arbitration. This vehicle is unsafe and dangerous.

I've had both the shaking and the engine stall. The shaking is very dangerous. i think it has to do with the esp braking system. i turn it off and the problem seems to go away.

I filed a complaint today- Jeep stated that resetting the drive train should help- We'll see. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD - My son almost had a major collision yesterday when the car stalled (engine just died) in the middle of the intersection. Car has been stalling a lot recently. We only have 34,500 miles on it.

I have a '05 Wrangler, right hand drive that I use on a mail route. I bought it new, the death wobble started soon after I got it. So many thing have been done to correct this, I won't even go into them. Here it is Nov. 2007, 4 sets of tires later, this thing "eats" tires. Alingments, stabilizer shock, new tires, rotate and balance, I have not had the death wobble in a while, but there is still a shimmy, not the one that shakes your teeth loose, just a constant shake at speeds over 50. Thank God I don't have to travel very much at high rates of speed, the only time I go over 50 is to the post office and back home. To the lady that just bought a jeep, GOOD LUCK, I will never own another one again.

I have a 2005 Wrangler, right hand drive that I use on a mail route. I also had the death wobble. It is so scary the first time it happens to you. The first time I took it to the dealer, they said there was mud impacted in the wheel. Then they called back, well no that wasn't it, it was a bad tire. Turns out that wasn't it. Basically they have not idea. Rotate and balance, helps for a little while, then new tires, cause this thing "eats" tires. Here it is Nov. 2007 and I have put 4 sets of tires on this thing. I am not even a full time mail carrier!!!!
Alignment, replace stablizer shock, and rotate and balance, has taken it from a death wobble to just an annoying shimmy over 50mph. To the lady who just bought a Jeep, I wish you luck, I will never own another one.

To all the posters who have complained about the "death wobble". I own and have owned many jeeps including CJs, TJs, YJs, XJs, and ZJs. Don't take your vehicle to the dealer to fix this, take it to a good Jeep or offroad shop. The guys at you local offroad shop will be able to either fix the problem or accurately diagnose it. The problem is not exacly uncommon. However, it is not exactly common either.

Personally, I have worked on both Jeeps and toyotas, and I would rather work on and drive a Jeep any day of the week.

In july 07 I bought a new 4 door jk in aug installed 4in suspension lift and 35in tires looks great and drives well have one problem, The esp activates on tight turns (ie country roads) I understand that lifting and the tire size created more flex in the front end which is the reason for the esp to activate. How can I correct this problem. Or deactivate the esp entirely.

Hi everyone,
I posted a comment back on July 22nd and I am still having the problems with the prolong engine start, and the roof leaking. I have brought it back to the dealership so many times since I have bought itcan't dublicate the prolong engine start and they say they fix the leak everytime, but everytime it rains I have a wet floor. Well I have 14,000 miles and now I have a new problem. Has anyone experienced an engine knocking sound? I took it to the dealership and had one of the servicemen take it out for a ride with me. He tried telling me it suppose to have a knocking noise!! I got very upset with him and made him keep driving it until he heard the noise and agreed with me that it wasn't suppose to be there. He finally said it is something serious with the engine. It goes in the shop next week. Was just curious if anyone else has had this problem and knows what it is? email me please markjuliek@aol.com

Well its good to see someone has this problem to. I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler I also had a 2003 Wrangler and it did the same thing. Everything is tight no loose bolts or lugs did anyone figure out what it is? I have a 93 and no problems. I had one Guy tell me it was the tires but it shakes a lot. any advice would be cool.

I recently purchased a 2007 Jeep unlimited and have also noticed the rpm's shooting up from approx. 1500 to approx. 3000. I have also experienced the prolonged engine starts. Luckily I have not had the experience of the engine stall. One thing I would like to ask is, has anyone with a hard top had any water leaks with the T tops? I have had them leak on a few occasions nothing major but it is a new vehicle.
Have a 07 Limited that has had two trips to the dealer in less with less than 5, 000 miles on the engine. I have alot of bogging down at 1500 RPMs...initally it whould buck when releasing and shifing (automatic) They replaced the torque converted at 500 miles, it was just back in the shop and they indicated a reconfigure of the computer was what it needed. I beleve they amped up the RPMS as it stays above 2500, 3000 through out all shifting and idles at 900 rpms...seeing sporatic jumps in rpms when driving. Does anyone know the factory settings for idle etc?
