I have a 1972 jeep wagoneer that is having alternator issues. I replaced the alternator and thought is was fixed but I drove it about 30 miles and it died. I am not sure exactlly what is wrong but I don't think it is charging the battery. If I pull the positive cable off when it is running it will stay running for a few seconds, I think the coil is holding a charge for a few seconds then dying. I don't know alot about wiring but any help would be great. PICTURES ARE AWESOME. Please e-mail me at [email protected] THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Don't pull the positive cable. If the alternator is charging, it's charging through that cable and if it touches any vehucle ground...well it's not good. If you have to pull a cable, pull the negative. But even that can damage stuff, like your regulator.
It's not a bad idea to pull your alternator and have it tested. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good.
