I have an '07 Jeep Liberty, and lately the A/C has been acting up. First a white frost, smoke, mist type substance has been blowing out of my air vents and also when the A/C is on it blows air but it doesn't blow air like it normally would. It almost seems like something is blocking the air from coming through the air vents. Does anyone have any suggestions to what the problem might be?

I have a 2004 liberty that has 68,000 miles .This is an odd problem which only occurs when the vehicle is running for extended period on the highway. The radio/ cd player shuts off and the a/c fan stops running sinultaneously. After the vehicle is shut off and cools, both begin to function normally. What the heck?

Can anybody help? TSB reccomendation:

"Physically check to ensure the instrument panel cross car beam ground is good. The left kick panel must be removed to see if the ground is loose."

I cannot find the instrument panel cross car beam grounding. Any idea where the grounding could be?

Thanks for your help

The flickering dash was the subject of a service bulletin. I've had this going on in my '02 Libby since it was new. I've pasted the TSB from another forum here. However, it sounds like replacing the multifunction switch didn't help your problem? Did you check the build date of the switch that was replaced (or get that info off the invoice)?
TSB 08-026-01 on switch
SUBJECT:
Trip Computer And/Or Radio Display And/Or Instrument Panel And/Or Overhead/Dome Lights Flicker
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves diagnosing the root cause of the flickering trip computer or radio display and/or instrument panel illumination and/or overhead/dome lights and replacing the multifunction switch.
MODELS:
2001 - 2002 (JR) Sebring/Sebring Convertible/Stratus 2002 (KJ) Liberty
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some subject vehicles may exhibit a flickering trip computer and/or radio display, instrument panel illumination, and/or overhead/dome lights. This condition occurs intermittently but is usually noticed while the driver operates the turn signals or beam change on the left stalk switch. This condition will not adversely affect vehicle operation and can be temporarily corrected by adjusting the instrument panel illumination dimmer setting. DO NOT change the position of the dimmer switch on the multifunction switch prior to Diagnosis.
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Physically check to ensure the instrument panel cross car beam ground is good. The left kick panel must be removed to see if the ground is loose.
2. Next check the dimmer switch output voltage with a DRBIIIŽ. This function is located in: Body, Body Computer, Sensor Display, Dimming Level. DO NOT change the position of the dimmer switch before monitoring the voltage across the switch.
3. While monitoring the voltage, activate the turn signal and beam change and look for output voltage fluctuations on the DRBIIIŽ and instrument panel lamps or trip computer display flicker. If the voltage varies more than 0.2 volts perform the Repair Procedure.

Anyone have any ideas? my check engine light has been on for 8 mos..... have had 2 diagnostics, a tune up and about 2 oil changes in that time period. NO ONE can figure it out.

Anyone else has the same problem or have any ideas?

After the oil changes or the tune up, it would go off for a day, then i get in the car the next morning for work and it comes on again... AHHHHHH

I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty 4 x 4. Recently sometimes (not all of the time) when I have been driving it for an hour or more at a time, when I turn it off it sounds like a jet engine is powering down. Then I hear a gurgling noise that goes for 30 seconds to a minute. I also think there may be some fluid leaking which I just noticed today. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? Appreciate any help before I call the dealership (as I wince, hoping it will be something minor). Thanks!

Hi Moni,
I also had this situation for a while, and when I took it to the dealership (a few years ago) they told me it was the gas cap not thinking it was on tight enough so it kept putting the check engine light on. They told me it was nothing to worry about so I just drive around with the check engine light on, because I know that was the issue.

Hi Moni,

I own a 2005 Liberty with 363,000 miles. My check engine light comes on all the time. A new gas cap works to correct this problem. The light will also come on when the gas companies change from winter gas to summer gas.

Help,

I own a 2005 Jeep liberty with 363,000 miles on it. Last year my dealer replaced the ball joints, which were under warranty. The front end hasn't been the same since. I can't go above 60 mph without the front shaking. It is now a nuisance more than anything else.

The alignment has been done countless times. I stoped going to the dealer and have brought it to my old mechanic who is working with me to try and figure out the problem.

I just recently replaced the front Struts and springs along with re-aligning everyhing again.

Can the ball joints that were put in last year, be an issue? The Jeep also pulls to the right.

My Jeep will start up and run great till it warms up then it will stall, it has to set around 15 to 20 minutes before it will restart. When it stalls and you try to restart it the key when in run position the RPM's will jump back and forth on the tack. The dealer said to tune it up, so we cleaned the throttle body and new spark plugs and need idle position sensor, but did no good still doing the same thing. Please any thought would help.
i'm having the same problems, i changed my crankshaft sensor and my throttle position sensor with no luck

I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem my wife has been having with her 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited. The vehicle has 88K miles and runs well. About 2 months ago, the check engine light came on and wouldn't go off. My wife took it in for an early oil change and diagnostic. The oil change didn't solve the problem and the diagnostic showed nothing wrong. Then a few days later, the light went off. A few days later the light came back on again. She then brought the vehicle to a mechanic and, after diagnosing the vehicle for over 2 hours, decided that the gas cap needed to be replaced. The light went off. 2 days later, the light came back on again. Brought the vehicle back to the same mechanic who did a full oil change, tune-up and replaced the gas sensor. The light went off. That was yesterday. Today, the light came back on again. I refuse to bring it to another mechanic and have them "guess" at the problem, charge us an arm and a leg and wind up having the liht come back on a few days later. Any suggestions?

The fuel (gas) compressor is most likely the problem. Had the same scenerio and after fixing abunch of things that were not the problem, I got a machanic that new the problem and it worked.

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and about every few months the speedometer will quit working and the check engine light comes on...it has been worked on SEVERAL times and they keep saying it is the speed sensor in the rear end...this time they did a full rear differential flush/treatment on it hoping this would make a difference...anyone else having this trouble?

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty. I never used the back door windows; nevertheless, both windows fell down and would not stay up. I had to have the motor/ regulator replaced on both sides--at considerable cost. Now, less than one year later the same thing is happening again. My mechanic told me that this is due to poor planning and engineering. The motors/regulators are simply not strong enough to support the weight of the windows. In order to solve this problem, lighter windows need to be installed along with new motor/regulators. This would be a very expensive fix. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know if there is a recall for this problem?
