I have been having problems with the front suspension, and my tires are cupping. After hearing of the recall, I called my local Jeep dealer and they had not even been notified of the problem or the recall. I drive for a living (salesman) and want to have this problem fixed ASAP. Unfortunately the dealership says they can't help me with this problem until they get the paperwork from Jeep/Daimler Benz. My wife will sue the hell ouit of Jeep if I die before then!.

I have had my jeep in once already for this problem. I drive alot with my grandchildren in the car. If something were to happen with them in the car, there would be major consequences. What will it take for the company to get this problem taken care of.

I own a 2005 Jeep Liberty, my boss at work notified me of this recent recall. All Jeep - Liberty owners should have notified to arrange an appt. to access vehicle safety. They certainly can e-mail me a newsletter.... Wow, I will be calling my dealership tomorrow morning...

Jls, you really don't give much info on your problem, like how long it shakes and vibrates, what engine and transmission you have or how long you warm up the car.My other car is a Corvette and I could write a book on the list of problems that almost every owner has with these $50,000+ vehicles.Considering that the Liberty was the best selling compact SUV since it's introduction with more than 800,000 units sold, it's list of common problems is very short. Not every Liberty will have front ball joint failures, the actually percentage of reported failures is very low, but it is a serious safety issue. Every Corvette from 97-2004 will have a column lock failure which will leave you stranded at some time. There wasn't a recall until 2004 and the cure doesn't work 100% of time.Fact is most of the ball joint failures reported initially were caused by dirt getting into the wear surfaces and the users were off road enthusiasts, which is why engineers felt a shield would cure the problem by protecting the ball joints from excessive dirt.

I OWN A 2004 LIBERTY 2X4 SPORT. I'VE HAVE THE BALL JOINTS REPLACED TWICE (BOTH DUE TO RECALLS)
MY TIRES ARE CUPPING NOW. I BOUGHT THESE TIRES NEW JUST OVER A YEAR AGO. THE SERVICE REP AT GREIGER MOTORS TOLD ME I'M NOT ROTATING MY TIRES ENOUGH, EVEN THOUGH I HAD THEM ROTATED IN AUGUST OF 2006 AND NO MENTION OF TIRE CUPPING WAS GIVEN TO ME.
I'VE HAD MY TIRES ROTATED A FEW TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD THEM ON THE JEEP.

I own a 2004 Liberty 4x4 3.7 Limited. It came with a lot of problems:
.vibrates when I do 65mph or more = dealer replaced the ball joints but it did not solve all the vibrations issue. It vibrates when I apply the brake and the steering wheel kinda pulls to right when I take my hand off the s/wheel. When I complained to the dealer, I was told to replace the front tires - it did not solve the problem.
..AC does not blow cold = took to the dealer 3 times and still could not fix the problem.
..gear doesn't lock on "D" when I stop on a slope.
..engine gives a terrible sound (as if all the cylinders are dead) when I step harder on the gas in parking mode. When it runs I don't hear the noise.
I have been to the dealer 3 times and planning to go after posting this comment.
If only I knew what I know now I would'nt have bought this Jeep.

I own a 2005 jeep liberty, the first problem which took the dealer several attempts to fix was a short in the brake lights kept blowing the fuse. I should have known then. Then when driving one day all the gauges dropped and every warning light went on and the message displayed was NO BUS. The next day the Jeep wouldnt start. Had vehicle towed to Port Jeff Jeep dealer. Recieved a call from their rude service manager claiming it was our fault because we put stuff under the seat and we caused a wire to become damaged. The is no information posted anywere how delicate the wiring is under the seat. A passenger can easily damage this wiring by extending the feet under the front seats. I was charged 350.00 for the repair! Also the gas milage is horrible, glad I leased!!

I bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 V6 back in Dec. of 2005. I really wanted a Nissan X-Terra but could not find one for under 26,000, so basically I went el-cheapo and went for the Liberty instead. I did love my Jeep for about 10 months, until I started having problems. Now I am about to eat 4300 in negative equity to trade it in for an Xterra.

Problem 1.) About 3 months after I bought the vehicle, it started stalling right after I would start it. It would start fine, and as soon as I would shift out of P, it would stall, everything would go dead, and the vehicle would not start for about 5 minutes. Another time, my passenger changed the heater setting and everything went dead. Luckily I was backing out of a parking space when this happened and not traveling down a highway. These and similar electrical failures would happen about once or twice a month. After about 5 instances of this, I took it in. The dealership told me it was due to a "Secruity Card Key" I obviously must carry for work interfering with the security system. I told them I don't carry a security card with me, and they ignored me and still wrote it up on their recap. The problem persisted, and I got the same response when I took it in the 2nd time. I even ARGUED with the rep, telling him that I do not carry a security card and he was like "yeah, um hmmm" and treated me like an idiot. I believe there is an obvious problem with the wiring that is shorting out when it gets overloaded, but they are giving me the run-around until I'm out of warranty and I have to pay the bill instead of Chrysler.

Problem 2.) Every month or so I need to get a front allignment done. I don't go offroading often, I rotate my tires, do all that, and no matter what, the front suspension gets out of allignment and starts vibrating when I get up to about 50, and will drift right.

Problem 3.) Here's the big one ... this is why I'm about to trade it in and eat up negative equity. About a month ago, my check engine light comes on. I'm away on a business trip, so my parents take it in, they say I blew a spark plug, put a new one in, and my dad's on his way. He gets about a mile, and the check engine light comes back on. They say its the fuel injector now, and replace the fuel injector. I come home from my trip about 2 weeks later, and the light is back on. So I'm taking it in again, for the 5th time now counting the 2 times I took it in with the stalling/electrical problem.

So basically, this vehicle is crap, and the techs for Chrysler are either incompitent, or lying to me about what the real problem is. I feel they are treating the symptoms, not the problem, and waiting till I'm out of warranty.

I'd rather take my chances with Nissan.

I am having the same problems!!! Jeep is extremely difficult to deal with and am going to get a toyota. I have talked to the dealership, called chrystler, and am going to write a letter. All of us need to write them to get this somewhat taken care of and be heard. This is absolutely ridiculous. I took pictures of my tires--went through 2 sets in 2 years. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE A LETTER!

Yes.........and the dealer "can find nothing wrong with it." He says to have it towed in the next time it happens....isn't that just great. Yes, my next vehicle will be a toyota.

My wife was 30 minutes late getting home tonite because her transmission would not shift out of park. She was even on flat ground. It has already been to the dealer twice for this. The last time, the genius told us that we were supposed to be stopping the vehicle with the parking brake and then shifting into park. Hmmmm...the owner's manual does not say anything about that weird procedure. These idiots know nothing!

My 2006 Jeep Liberty is also sticking in park, it has happend four separate occasions. I brought it to be repaired, but I am 400 miles over my 36,000 mile warranty! I have written to Jeep, and advise anyone else having this problem to do the same. It will take large numbers of people writing and calling to get this intermittent problem listed as a recall. In the meantime, if you remove the cover from the gear shift mechanism, you may be able to manually manipulate the shift mechanism to the right of the lever. The pin that you can see, must drop below the lowest "finger" inorder to move out of park.

I have the same problem! I have brought it to the dealer twice already, and they said they have never heard of this problem before. I'm not sure how they have never heard of it, since there are lots of complaint on-line.

I have a 2005 Jeep Renegade with the 3.7 when the engine is cold it idles at 3500 rpm I don't think that is normal the delarship couldn't help me.

Now when the engine is at operating temperature, the engine will shut off at 55mph for a few seconds and start back up again making terrible clanking sounds. The proper amount of oil is in the engine I change it every 3k. I can't really complain I have almost 200k miles on it now bought it brand new in 2004, other than that I wouldn't buy the new Liberty style is ugly, leaning towards Nissan.
