Nick,

I have same problem on my 93 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Have replaced all sensors and starter. Mechanic checked fuel pressure and said it was fine. The only way I can start in cold weather is to turn the key all the way just before cranking and wait for the check engine light to come on. Have had two very good mechanics spend many hours and both are stumped. Will appreciate any guidance anyone can provide. I've been very lucky with this vehicle. Has 250,000 miles and have had very few problems.

i have a 95 grand cherokee with similar symptoms. my ignition wont work with the starter. come to find out. its a wiring problem. not sure where though. i ran a good solid wire from the starter to a push button inside the jeep. turn the ignition, push the button. starts fine. but at the same time all this happened, my blower motor wont work with its normal power wire. ran a 2nd power wire to the positive side of the blower. works fine just like normal. its like i lost power to the blower and starter. anyone know of any relays or anything that would cause this!? i'm lost and i've had a few mechaincs look at it as well. we all have no idea. chacked all fuses and relays i could find. not broken, but an inconvenience! PLEASE HELP!

sounds like your module engine control. I had the same problem with starting untill check engine light came on. After a while, the car will not start at all. Unfortunatley, it's a 500.00 part. Contact your jeep dealership. We put it in ourselves. Hopr this helps

Kev is right.

Have a 93 GC Laredo with the excact same problem.

Best thing you can do is pull the Box (located behind the coolant reservoir) on the firewall passenger side in the corner.

Get a hold of a god Salvage Yard and give them the part number off the box so they can cross referance one that will work for you.

I picked one up for $100.00. Takes 10-15 minutes time to remove /install.

Good Luck,

Buy a new computer box (Jeep Cherokee ECM Engine Computer ECU). That should solve your problem.
You can get one on ebay for about 100$ or less.

I have 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited that has several electronic problems at once, started out with no heat on passenger side/ then no heat at all, then battery not charging and then no start when car has been running for aprox. 20 minutes. If the vehicle sits for aprox 30 minutes it starts just fine. Anyone had similar problems?

I'm looking at buying a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8, for around $3,600, it has around 100,000 miles on it. They say it sucks batteries dry. I'm thinking, that I can just replace the alternator. Any other ideas?

Unless you are an avid Jeep lover and have a lot of money to throw at a Jeep, I would recomend you stay clear of the 1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo. We purchsed ours three years ago for $4000, 186000 miles then. In 10,000 we have spent an additional $4200. We have replaced the door sensors, the central conrol unit, the battery (twice), and a host of other repairs. Just this past Friday the Jeep left me stranded in heavy traffic.$60 more dollars for a tow (1/2 mile). Jeep wont start. Sounds like another hefty repair bill to replace another part.

We bought it for it's size, power and saftely. When it runs it is a great vehicle.

Need answeres bad please help. 1996 jeep grand cherokee one with 111,000 miles and the other with 148,000 miles both have electrical problems. Alarm keeps going off and doors lock and unlock, interior lights wont go off so i pull the fuse. Its almost like there haunted. I never thought i would have problems with both of them at the same time. But my latest problem is a wire or short on the starter and at this very moment i'm trying to find out where the starter is on my jeep and if there is a button or switch to start the vehicle up so that i can save a few bucks (instead of having it towed.) Can u please help,or email me a answere ASAP. [email protected]

I hate to rant but that guy said it right....When they run theyre great for power, comfort and safety. But thats only 20% of the time. Ide have to say with myelf being a jeep owner (only for 3 days) dont buy a jeep. Theres hundreds of things wrong with them...its unbelievable, and no recalls. Just purchased a 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited with 110k miles. Had a full inspection done..the worse compression ive ever seen...motor was no good, even though it ran somewhat fine, had two cylinders at 100 wich is supposed to be 160-180 and is very bad. Bout 15 other common things wrong with it also, bad tail lights, warped rotors, door locks, radiator fan..etc. Needless to say ive read hundreds of forums in the last 3 days and returned the jeep. I just dont know why you would want to buy something like that. Its hard earned money, buy something dependable.

I'm having same electrical problems i.e., dash lights flash, gauges jump, RPM & speed needles jumping around, engine dies won't start. Has anyone specifically had Jeep dealership fix problem? If so, what is the problem?
