How do I shut off the alarm system without the remote(short of disconnecting the batery terminal,etc.,etc.)?I thought there was a sequence I could follow using the key in the lock to disable it.

I tried disconnecting the battery terminal, tried the left right left right key sequence in all doors

Now the lights flash and the ignition is disengaged but the horn alarm part is off. But I still can't get the alarm disengaged

Just bought my daughter a 1995 jeep grand cherokee. Price was right at 1800. A+ condition for exterior and interior. Had to put new brakes and battery. No big deal. PROBLEM is that sometimes when you go to start it it acts like it has a dead battery. Battery is fine so is starter. Few minutes later it starts like nothing is wrong. Any help please. If it was the alarm wouldn't it just not start at all?

I have the same problem with my '96 Grand Cherokee Limited. Have you gotten anywhere with the problem? The only thing I know is to totally disarm the alarm by grounding the one wire in the driver door harness. Of course, that does not really solve the problem, just hides it.

If you want to never have another problem with the alram do what I did, just removed the alarm module. Its located behind the glove box. The grounding wire in the door harness did not work for my 1995 grand cherokee ltd, so I took apart the glove box to get to the alarm module and while the vehicle is running I unplugged it and removed it. The vehicle must be running when you do this because the vehicle has a back up memory to the alarm.

I think its part of voltage regulator setup. Little plastic boc with 2 green wires and two black ground wires. Solid state component I believe. A thump on top of it has started mine several times. Need to replace it.

Put the key in the drivers side door and rotate it left, right, left until it stops...If that doesn't work, go to the back hatch/trunk area and do the same. Jeep dealership told me this, and also exhibited it in a demonstration.

I have a '95 grand cherokee and i have lots of problems with the alarm. for a while i could only open it from the passanger door then that started turning on the alarm, so someone said to try the back hatch that worked for about 6 months now no matter which door i try it wont let me start the jeep. it just flashes all the lights and the security light comes on. anyone know what i can do?

Had the same problem with my 93. I have no remote and using the key in the doors would not shut the alarm off. I had to remove the door panel (any one) and found a connection that had fallen off the back of the lock cylinder (come to find out it had fallen off both the front doors and the hatch). You can see how it fits on the post on the back of the cylinder. This has to turn to disengage the alarm. It works now.

We recently bought my brother's well taken care of 95 Grand Cherokee Laredo, and when my son went into it one evening to take a cd out of the cd player part of the alarm went off...he shut it off but the interior lights continued to stay on and a loud ticking noise came from the dash...if you turn on the vehicle this stops, but the minute you turn it off, it comes back...we tried all the door handle/remote suggestions...and the radio completely quit working at the same time, we now have the fuse removed and that works..but the radio still doesn't work and doesn't work if you put the fuse in. Guess it will have to go into the dealer...as he only has manual locks and no radio at this point, and no alarm...anyone have the radio go out along with alarm malfunction?

Open the glove box and remove the panel on the bottom, there will be 4-6 relays here, I beleive that one is the one closest to you on the right, regardless its the one clicking probably need replacing $7-15 at any auto parts store. Also a fuse in the passenger door panel should blow when it starts clicking.

OK heres what you do
walk around to the lift gate and unlock it using the key then unlock your driver door and the system will be disabled until you turn the ignition off and lock the doors using the button on the door however if you want the system to be completely disabled there is a wire that runs through the door jam i think its green or purple but if you ground it the system will be completely disarmed

I'm having the same problem with my '95, exactly as you described it. What did you do to fix it? Something you did yourself or did you just take it to the dealer? I noticed it happened when I tried turning on the second-row lights
