I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the control panel gauges shut off and then start working (mostly not working), window an lock controls refuse to work and the air conditioner will not engage. I had the computer replaced but this didn't help (they tried every thing looking for some type of short). I later had a left window actuator replaced and the control gages started working again for a couple of days. This is when I noticed that when the gauges shut off I can press the passenger door lock either up or down and the gages will work for a period. Works every time the gauges shut down. I assume some manipulation of the lock during installation of the actuator effected the panel gauges. Would a faulty passenger door lock cause the control gages and air conditional to stop working.

If all you did was push it in and you didn't break the door trying to slam it shut all you have to do is unlock the door and pull on the door handle...

Check this link:"http//www.daihatsu. org/jeep/door-latch.shtml ". I found specific instructions on how to replace a left rear door lock actuator in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (this instructions are applicable for 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees). The page provides replacement part number for the solenoid.

all i can say guys it get em fixed quick

as mine did the usual quack then stopped which stopped the door being used Full stop

when i finaly got the door open and replaced the door actuator
wish i done it sooner
when you get the door open. look at the lock itself just below that there is a hole which has an ajuster on

dont forget to ajust it when youv'e replaced it i did and the lock packed up and i had to re-strip the door again (drivers door) that was about 3 years ago all the others seem ok at the moment must admit sprayed the others with lubricant

Take care and enjoy the motor

My rear door (hatch door) is locked and it won't unlock or open. I assume the actuator is broken. It made the 'quack' noise for some time before now. Not sure if I can fix it from inside the vehicle.
had the same problem but it works now if you lift up on the latch and use the side of your fist whack simultaneously to the left of the latch it opens, try it out. good luck

i pushed in the hook latch on the rear door of my jeep and now I cant pull it back anyone knows what to do? I cant close the door any more
I just had the same problem with my Jeep. My boyfriend hooked a thick metal wire (thicker than a hanger but flexible) around the latch than wrap it around a thick, strong screwdriver. Lift the trunk door at about a 90 degree angel and while holding the tunk handle up/open at the same time, twist the screwdriver (wrapping the wire around it) straight away from you (Upwards in comparrison to when the trunk door is closed). He said it was actually pretty easy but spray WD40 around it and use force. It doesn't make much sense why this worked but it did for me becuase now it doesn't even get stuck anymore.

My 1999 Cherokee will not lock or unlock with the remote. A slight clicking is heard inside the passenger door when the remote is pressed. All was good up untill now. Any solutions before I start taking things apart?

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and thanks to my brother who told me what it probably is after hearing the noise coming from the rear door, i was able to find this discussion. now i'm sure, but i am wondering if my rear wiper is also not working because of it... can someone tell me if it is probable that the rear wiper will start working again once i replace the rear actuator?

have a 93 GCL 5.2 8cyl with 210k----wont start unless key is left in the ON posn. until check engine light comes on or a feint sound of fuel being pumped to the rails. Fuel pump was new 2 yrs ago, replaced fuel filter, have good pressure both from cold start to running, sensor replaced, fuses all good....just annoying that have to wait about 15 seconds every time to start. Any ideas welcomed
