Question regarding a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 V8 AT trans, all time 4 Wheel high. When I put it in gear sometimes it won't grab like its in neutral but it's actually in gear (I have even tried taking it out of gear and putting it back in drive and that does not always work). It will eventually grab and go. It shifts fine from gear to gear. Only when it is in drive or reverse it will give me problems ani It only seems to give me problems when it is not and normal operating temperature. If I try to put in in 4 Wheel low it grind trying to go it or come out. Then sometimes if im at a stop light and i am not moving but still in drive it will start to shutter and almost cut off. I can feel a hard vibration when it does that then it stops all of a sudden. When it does I can still feel a little vibration. Anyone have any ideas????? Thanks

My 2003 4.7L V8 Grand Cherokee has started vibrating when in idle and when driving. I have changed all 8 spark plugs, but this has not helped. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee all 4x4 and some times it will just shut off, like it lost all electrical power. It will restart and a short time later will do it again. WHY??? If you have a answer please e-mail me at [email protected]

You need a new throttle positioning switch.

I had the same problem with my 1995 Jeep and it ended up being the crank positioning sensor.

My jeep turns over but wont start,I've checked the distributor and coil as well as the rotor cap. I checked my timing chain, its good. Could this be caused by the crank sensor as well. I get no spark.

I kind of had the stop problems you descibed. What my problem was is that the valve body wasnt shifting the trans back down to 1st. So when I would come to a stop and then go to take off I was still in 3rd gear. We changed out the valve body and that cured the problem - good luck

There is two possible problem in what you describe.
A low oil level in the tranmission would cause the noise and the vibration while stopping or idle.
The shifter cable could have some loose, it will cause the reverse and drive to be hard to engage.

My 1995 Gr Cherokee-all time 4wd- is literally stuck in 4-high. I have an odd black hose hanging out from under the front...are the two related and how do I get it out of 4-high?

Sounds like your trans fluid cooler hose has come loose. If so, check your fluid. It is probably gone. Put the hose back on and fill with fluid.

I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee, it goes into reverse just fine but when you put it in drive it will NOT shift out of 1st gear, sometimes it acts like it was to go into reverse while driving down the road. Any Ideas?

Hi - HELP! I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is stuck in reverse. Every gear is reverse except park. It doesn't make any difference if I move the 4wd shifter. I just had it towed recently and the driver removed the drive shaft. My friend put it back on - I don't know if that matters?
Thanks!
