They are not so bad. I have 109,000 miles on my 02 S Type & the only thing i've replaced besides the oil is the brakes.

The gearbox dont need change of oil. Thats how Jaguar choose to make it. There is no way you can change nor check the oil. However we all know at some point you have to change it. This is done by special machine and by removal of the bottom of the gearbox. this is not a job for amatours.

Amen to that! there is a fill plug center back of the trans. make sure vehicle is in park, trans at operating temp before you check it. I recomend to service it at no more than 75k on the miles and USE the proper fluid Mercon 5 is the reccomended lube. ALSO if you will put your vehicle in Neutral then set the brake before putting in park it will not put any strain on the parking pawl therefore not sticking in park.(PS) put in gear before releasing the Parking brake |

Could anyone help me figure out how to drain the coolant from a '00 Jag S-Type 3.0L?
I have no experience with this make... if you could email me to: veingtdeuz@hotmail.com I'd greatly appreciate it! I've had that car not running for almost 3 months and it breaks my heart just looking at it. THANKS! |

There is a recall on this vehicle call Your Jaguar dealer. |

the only way to check tranny is to have the car running and fill it from the bottom drain plug , theres a stand pipe inside it and you pump in the 8 litres or whatever it takes,,,,retarded engineering,, i took the pan off and filled it and put it back on ,, messy both ways , should have a filler plug but they dont |

My son has a 2005 S Type Jag. 4.2 liter engine.
We just put on new brake pads and rotors front and rear. The parking brake does not work and a message appears "Parking brake failure" I was told this is normal and the message will eventually go away and the parking brake should work again. When the computer re-learns after several attempts and finally sees the brakes. Is this correct ??? |

Thanks anyway I figured it out, this was very simple to solve. You just have to out smart the computer and electrical system.
