Tuscon....4 cylinder.....horrible gas milage....17 in city....better milage from 6 cyl. Venture.......anyone else got complaint??

No complaints, just facts. The Tucson City is a smaller car than the regular Tucson, and is not available in the United States, so I don't know that anyone's been able to drive it in order to gauge WHAT the mileage is. The article is from an Australian newspaper, and lists 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers. What miles per gallon that is I can't say, but one would hope that it's better than its bigger brother's mileage. I for one would LOVE to be able to test drive it, as it would seem to be just my size. |

I own a Tucson City 2 Litre in Aussie and 9.2 litres per 100 Kilometers is 30 mpg, but mine averages out at 28 mpg |

I have the same problem with my Elantra. The dealership insists on rebalancing my tires every time i come in and they now tell me all my wheels are bent |
We just picked up an 07 and it has the vibration issue at speeds above 100kmh. We have taken it for an initial balancing that has solved nothing. Will be visiting them again soon. If the issue still persists we will take it to the next Dealership, hopefully one with a high speed balancing machine. Later, Sam |

I have the same problem. It was suggested to me that the rattling is coming from the brakes. I have not had them fixed yet so I don't know if that solves it but you may want to check that out. I thought it was my alignment too but when I had it done, I asked if the mechanic could suggest what may be causing it. The first thing he suggested was my brakes. After the allignment was done and another mechanic test drove to make sure alignment was done right he came back and said outright that the rattling is from the brakes. Hope this helps. |

I have a 2007 Tuscon City, have driven long distances as well as in the city. Never had any problems with vibes driving for hours at 110km.
It has reasonably good fuel economy, would recommend it for someone looking for a vehicle in the price range. Still not sure what resale value is as not many 2nd hand for sale yet... |

I just got back from a 400 mile road trip, and I noticed the vibration, but only above 80 mph. I've had the car for 6 months (07 Limited) and I've never noticed it before. Then again, this is the first time I drove for sustained 80'ish speeds. I was just about to get a wheel balancing, until I read this. I'm happy to report that this is my first problem with an otherwise excellent auto. |

Got my 2008 tucson in nov 2008 new with 15 miles on it, test drove it on city streets fue days later drove it on freeway it starts vibrating at about 60 or 70 mph. at 800 miles they first told me to drive it to the first oil change [3500miles] that the tires had flat spots on them, at 800 miles i had all the vib i could stand at 1400 miles they changed tires at least three times, road force balanced the tires, then put the old tires back on, still had vib. the dpsm said that the vib. was a characteristic of this vehicle, it is now june they still have not fixed it, i just put new $600.00 tires on it, that helped but it still vib. the old tires vib. more in cold weather and less in worm weather, we have video of stering wheel vibrating real bad we are seting up a web site to show all 17 pages of documentation on this mess the day that the factory man drove the car it was very worm i wish he had drove it a fue days later he would not have let me drive it home it was so bad, old well between the BBB,the website, youtube, my lawyer, I will get it fixed some day, my lawyer said i only need six or seven of you that have same problum and he will take the case.

Let's class action Hyundai. I have the exact same problem Bridgestone changed the tires, the dealer changed the tires, we even put different tires on last night from another "used" Tucson. Same problem. Brand new Tuscon Limited.
At 68MPH and up, harmonic vibration starts shaking the wheel...very dangerous, will of course damage suspension as well... |
Okay...here goes, I test drove another Tucson at another dealer. Even the salesman noticed the horrible shake and said it was "Flat Spots" on the tires. We drove back to the dealership, and he took the car into service.
Two days later I asked to take the car for another test drive, and the dealer service said they were going to change the rotors that afternoon, as they were a possible cause of the vibration. I called in the early evening, and was told that the rotors (which followed a complete tire balancing)didn't take care of the vibration, but diminished it somewhat. I contacted my dealer and gave him the news. This looks like a full fledged Hyundai failure. It's time to rally, and gather everyone who has a Hyundai with this front end problem. |

I feel your pain, email me at {tucsonvibration@yahoo.com} Ben out of town with sick family member, back now and ready to get to work, I found one other person with same problem, I may start puting flyers on every tucson I see in walmart parking lot telling them of my problem, I just want my money back, the dealership tolded me it was not their problem, I asked to trade it in they said that my car was valued at 12,000 for my two month old new car that I payed 22,000 for, so much for 10 year 100,000 mile warranty and hi resale value,

Sounds like the rims may be suspect. They would need to dismount the tires from the rims, put the rims back on the car and check them for run-out. If the rims do not rotate "true", no amount of tire balancing will fix the problem.
That's a given Loren.
In this case, at least one new set of wheels and tires were swapped with no correction. After that the original brand new from Bridgestone tires wee reinstalled. After that, Michelins were installed... |
They changed my rims at least one time, and the tires at least two times, then reinstalled old tires back on car, I then put goodyear tires on the car, the goodyear tires got rid of the low end vib. but still had high speed vibration, i sent off my bbb info. now we wait and see.
