Hello
My 07 Sonata GLS I4 is a nice car. However it has serious design flaws. Some advice test drive it with a full tank of gas.The fuel tanks have no baffels and the gas sloshing noise is terrible over 3/4 full. The second problem is the front suspension. It makes noise over slithtly bumpy roads.Like a old Chevy with loose shocks.I have followed up with no help.I have called Hyundai COnsumer affairs,Seen the factory rep and been to two dealers.they all say Hyundai is aware of the problems but there is no fix in site.So Future Hyundai buyers beware of the advertising hype and warranty claims. My advice is But a Honda. This Sonata has been in the shop more in two months than all of my last 6 Hondas. If you want any more infor I'm at MRBSTAR2@AOL.COM Put Hyundai in subject.

I have a2007 limited and have not experienced these problems. Also have rented both GLS and limited models both with over 12000 miles and have not had these quirks. I drove both from ny to wash,dc. 250-300 miles absolutely no problems.

I also own a 2007 Sonata and have the same problems as John with the gas tank sloshing and making a terrible noise. I have been back to the dealer twice with an answer - don't drive with a full gas tank! Somehow paying $25,000 for a car and not being able to fill the gas tank leaves a big question. Ford Motor Co. had a similar problem with Pinto gas tanks and failed to do anything until the cars started to have gas tanks explode. Maybe Hyundai should take a page out of Ford's book before they too run into these problems!

I too have a 2007 Sonata and the gas tanks sloshes with a full tank. Loacal dealer says this is not a major problem but also says not all 07 have this isssue. Well Ford covered up their Pinto for how many years. I am taking this to the car mags and papers.

'07 Sonata SE Brand New (21mi) and test drived by yours trully. It handles way beyond what I payed for and trully is a good bargain. I've had it about a year now, and with a good wash and detail (if i feel up to it), if feel like im driving it the day i pulled it out of the lot. (currently: ~15,000)

I have same problem. There is a noise from gas tank, from the seats and dash board. I went to dealer to complain. They fixed the noises from the seats. The noises com back again after a month. The noise from gas tank, they told me it is normal because there is no baffles. They can not fix it. My 07 Sonata GLS I4 is a nice car. I drove combination city and freeway but i never get to 20 miles per gallon. Any one get mileage problem?

I just bought mine ('07 GLS) this weekend, and it has a slight drift to the right. I wondered if this was an alignment problem, but the dlr said it was a safety design. He said ALL new cars are designed to do this just in case you fall asleep at the wheel. You hit a tree, a median or the car next to you rather than oncoming traffic.
I'm not sure if this guy is full of it or not. Anyone else experienced this?

I've just got an '08 Sonata and have no gas slosh or front suspension noise.
To Jim about drift to the right - a car is not supposed to have any drifts, the dealere is either a jerk or moron (most probably the first).
On the other hand, there has to be a slight drift to the right on most roads - because roads have slope across to drain water.
Another possible cause for you to think your car has a drift is if the steering wheel is tilted to the left when the car is going straight. You subconciously are trying to turn the wheel straight and the car starts going to the right. This is what my car has, but it's not that annoying, so I am coping with it so far, especially I've only had about 450 miles so far. If it gets worse I'll have the dealer to get the wheel alignment done.

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS, which is the SE on the '07,'08 models. I have not experienced any of the problems that have been mentioned on this forum. I do however hear a noise from the rear suspension over bumps. Hyundai issued a TSB for this but my VIN was not covered by it. It does not bother me since I usually drive with the radio on and therefore I don't hear it. Another explanation is that he '06 came with 225/50 17 tire whereas the '07 came with 215/55 17 with a higher sidewall. I test drove such a car and did not experience any noise whatsoever.
Regarding the front suspension noise, it may be due to the tie rods rubbing on the stabilizer bar, for which there is a TSB. http://jerrystout.us/sonata/tsb/front_wheel_t...
With regards to the drifting of the car to the right, I too have experienced this, but since the V6 reaches maximum torque at 3500rpm the drifting can be attributed to torque steer.

It should track straight. That is not a safety desigh, its an alignment problem.

I have put on a 1000 miles on my 07 sonata gls and have none of the problems mentioned. Mine came with the 16 tires, which supposedly ride more smoothly

I have a 07' Sonata and I have not had any of the problems listed here so far, but I did have my gas petal stick to the floor after about 9 months of drivin it everyday. One morning while driving i pressed down on the petal to get up to speed, just turning onto the road, when i let my foot off the petal it just stayed down and there was no way to get it to come back up. I kicked it and it only made it go farther to the floor, making me go even faster then i already was I tried to put my foot behind it and pull up, no luck. Pulled over with brakes and e-brake on and put car in nuetral and turned it off. The dealership told me it was my floor mat. Yet i myself moved my floor mat when they asked me over the phone if it was the floor mat and the gas petal remained pinned to the floor, a friend came to my car and also saw it right down to the floor with the floor mat no where close to the petal. 30 min later it simply popped back up on its own with no one touchin it and the car not running. After looking at the car they didn't find anything and assured me it must have been the floor mat. I refused to take my car back untill a specialist looked at it. They found an exposed wire (as everything is electrical now) which they thought might have shorted out, so they replaced my gas pettal and i got my car back. Thinking everything was fine about 2 week later my boyfriend was driving and it happened again, this time in a school zone (where u are suppose to drive 30 km/h , thats kind of hard when your pettal is stuck down)he put it in nuetral alot faster then i did because i was scraed and didn't know what to do at first. this time after 7 min at the side of the road he moved the floor mat and the pettal popped up on its own. I took it back to the dealership and after a week in the shop they said "It had to be the floor mat we couldn't find anything." i called mechanics and they told me to tell Hyundia to change an app switch i belive it was called or the modguel that controls the amount of fuel that goes to the engine. Hyundia told me they had no idea what a app switch was and that the modguel would not make the pettal stick. I asked them to look it up then later that day they called me and told me that they are not willing to spend anymore time on my car, and again saying it was the floor mat.?? i've had my car back for about 4 months now and nothings happend. Don't know if it was the exposed wire the first time and the floor mat the second ?

I recently bought my 07 sonata but as opposed to drifting to the right, mine drifts to the left. Someone made mention that it may be:
1. The road (I was on the left side of the highway when i noticed)
2. The traction control
3. Tire Pressure
4. Wheel Alignment

I'm gonna have mine checked out. The dealer said they checked it out prior to the sale and it was fine, but they said to bring it in anyway.
