Hyundai to Supply Six-Speed Automatic Transmission for Dodge Dart
We heard, and Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik confirmed, that the Korean automaker will supply Chrysler with U.S.-assembled six-speed automatic transmissions for use in the new Dodge Dart.

Dodge is definately going to have to use a smaller engine if they want 40 mpg. If you're going to bring in a tranny from another company, it should be a CVT. Pair that up with a turbo 1.4 liter engine, which should be the standard engine, and you'd have the makings of a good hybrid, though I'd prefer a turbo 1.0 litre diesel. And Dodge should be thinking of a diesel for the dart since the chevy cruze reportedly is going to have one, though it'll be an excessively large 2.0 litre. Apparently GM doesn't want its cars to get too good a gas mileage.
