GM should recall them all and give them to the Army. We really don't need those Monstrosities riding around on our city streets. All they are, are someone's "Ego Trip" with wheels!

These things were originally designed for use by the military. There are some people that have a very extremest attitude in society. We don't need people that have the mentality that it's a jungle out there. They are usually the people that try to make it a jungle or worse. These are gas guzzlers. Here's Mr. Bush trying to say Americans should conserve and use less gasoline, then tries to give these drivers of BIG SUV's a tax break! They are gas hogs. We Americans don't have the right to consume the majority of the oil fields on the earth. Who are to think that everything in the world should be our total domain? One day, there will be no more oil, then what? We are having soldiers die, to try to own their oil fields in Iraq. We are now trying to start wars to own the natural resources of other countries, for ourselves. That doesn't bother you as to what kind of people we are becoming? God is not going to be merciful upon us.

When I see a Hummer, I see a [moron's] refusal to feel any sense of social responsibility. Is it any wonder that GM is in such dire straits, producing this "all hat and no cattle" junk? What the market demands my ass.

I personally own a Hummer H1 with a 502 big block in it that makes over 500 horse power. If you don't like the fact that I can make the choice to drive whatever I want, then smile as you go underneath.

Wondering

Seems like if the "tree huggers" wanted to draw attention you real waste, instead of pointing to a Hummer H1 (about 100 sold this year), why not line up regular protest on the inland waterways in Florida where there are Thousands of power boats and yachts lined up outsid mega-homes. How much fuels do those hold - use - and waste !! Not to mention the air and water polution. Get a grip.

It's a shame they are stopping the H1's. They are a wonderful truck for towing my boat, WW2 Weasel and to take me to my hunting trips to Montana. In regards to fuel efficiency, the 6.5L diesel gets more mileage than the other big SUV's such as the Escalade and Expedition. Go after them too, how about all the gramdma's and grampa's with their gas guzzling motor homes. They should stay home. When everybody in this country all drives bikes, then I might think about keeping off the road. We should have car control, no cars..no gas usage.... In regards to our boys in Iraq, my dad and father-in-law were veterans and fought for freedom as our boys are now. That war is over terrorism not oil.

One of Al Gore's plane trips to hawk his global warming book uses more fuel than I do in a year. Al should drive a Prius instead.

i dont understand people who think about the 12000 built non-military vehicles so bad... o.k. i need a lot of diesel when i use my H1 but i have even a lot of fun and i look in neraly 95% happy children-eyes and even the adults like the H1... so i think this car is not the problem what people like alan chandler (see above) have ... his comment sounds like he has something against everytghing sorry for the "bad" english and greetz from germany

HUMMER H1's are in such small production that you really shouldn't matter whether someone drives it or not in terms of fuel efficiency and "polluting" the environment. Focus your energy on something meaningful like all of the counterpoints mentioned throughout this thread. Have a great day!
