Hulking H1 to end life as symbol of status

Full story: Myrtle Beach Online

The 2006 model year will be the last for the Hummer H1, the hulking, gas-guzzling status symbol that has attracted celebrities and off-road enthusiasts but has drawn the ire of environmentalists.

Hummers are really bad on gas but nice on the eyes. One time my buddy William Kutschinski had a 1973 Lincoln. It got about 7 miles to the gallon. Much worse than a Hummer. William Kutschinski is not environmentally friendly. William Kutschinski would no doubt love a Hummer. Not everybody's cup of tea but that' why we have car choices

Seems like if the "tree huggers" wanted to draw attention you real waste, instead of pointing to a Hummer H1 (about 100 sold this year), why not line up regular protest on the inland waterways in Florida where there are Thousands of power boats and yachts lined up outsid mega-homes. How much fuels do those hold - use - and waste !! Not to mention the air and water polution. Get a grip.
actually, these people need to get a life.

I always admired the South American people when they would hold a national sit down strike and shut down the whole country to get their governments attention.

Damn right! We don't need a bunch of socialist tree huggers telling us what we can, and cannot buy and own. We love our Hummers. Just call me Sugar.

You should shuffle on down south, never to return to this free country. Hell, you likely admired Saddam H.

My compliments to all Hummer owners of whom I can safely bet most have probably never travelled outside of their home state with the exception of the professional truck driver who is obviously a well cultured individual. Thank you for delivering my toilet paper, my personal restraint in consumption saves the air that keeps you alive so let's just say you owe me one!
Get outside of your country and visit those of your so-called trade partners, study some economics, read some books, and possibly attend a few lectures to learn what other nations and people give up without choice to feed your insatiable appetites.
Live one day in the world of those that sacrifice and suffer for those that consume and abuse and perhaps a small thing called a conscience will begin to blossom in your head, I would have used the term "brain" but it seems to big a compliment to pay.
One day your children will inhabit this planet and if you donít have any respect for other American try and have some for your potential offspring and think about the legacy that you leave them. Maybe one day you can drive them to their medical appointment for asthma and various other respiratory illnessesí rampant in todayís youth due to air quality and carbon dioxide emission.
Think before you speak!!

Have you herd! This planet is going to be hit by a huge meteor or comet. So whats the big deal, mankind is doomed no matter what we do or don't do. Or is God going to rescue us by banishing the devil forever and were all going to dance and sing in fields of green under skys of blue. You believe what you want to believe but dont believe in everything you think we need or don't need. To each his/hers own. HUMMERS RULE!

Comments like yours demonstrate the irresponsibility the majority of North Americans deem normal and blindly accept. The problem with this internet is that we write blindly on these forums and I'm probably wasting time preaching to a 12 year old.

There's nothing to believe or not believe, this truth is comparable to the fact that the sun will rise tomorrow.

Keep your "to each his/her own" attitude because it makes no sense. If your own infringes upon the well being of others than it shouldn't be done; read your own constitution.

People can believe what they want but can't act as they please. If I believe that urine is good for grass that's my own opinion but I can't come and piss on your lawn. Or should I be allowed to do as I please according to your rationale.

I figured this very basic example would appeal to you and make it easier to understand.

Again, do me a favour and think before you post or save your comments for the water cooler where no ones around to listen.

Lighten up A!! Your taking it the wrong way. I was just being funny. Life is too short to get all bent out of shape over who drives what. That was the topic here. right? Answer me this, If I only put 1000 miles a year on my car and you put over ten thousand on yours in that same time whos to say which vehicle shouldn't be allowed on the road. Why are Hummer owners under attack when it comes to being responsible for the environment. How much fuel am I allowed in my life time? Are you going to be told what you can and can't have. Another thing, didn't you know that the world was once flat? But we learned otherwise didnt we. "Hummers are bad for the environment" "the Earth is the center of the universe" It sounds the same to me? Maybe if you didnt take life so seriously all the time as Vegan tree huggers do. you would see that we dont have all the answers and we do learn from our mistakes and blindly going around blaming others for what they drive is as stupid as throwing you into a volcano to please the lava gods. but on the other hand. ""Save the trees" they come in very handy for winching out of a tight spot." But you were right about one thing, the problem of you preaching on the internet forums. No, just kidding. Thats why were here, A? To tell others whats wrong with them. No, wait. to save on paper products. I'll think of something this blasted internet is good for someday, just you watch.

Personally, with one exception, the people I know who've bought one have a real need to show off how much money (or credit) they have.

The one exception is a guy who makes a lot of money selling stuff to people who have a real need to show off how much money (or credit) they have, so it's got a legitimate business purpose.

For the record, I've got two Chevy's and a Ford. Between them I've probably got 80% of a vehicle made in America the way my '60 Chevy or my '68 'Cuda was.

I personally think Hummers are ugly. And for the most part, American made cars are peices of crap! We only drive foreign cars.

Now I know what you will all say about buying foreign but I'd rather buy a well built, durable and dependable car than to spend the same money on something that won't last 5 years.

Why am I not surprised? Another anti-American who can't recognize right from wrong, or good from bad. We have two (2) H3s. They are great, like a rock, not like the foreign, light weight, cheap, flimsy vehicles the foreign companies are flooding our country with. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You need an eye exam and glasses. Being a Nurse Practioner ("NP"), getting both should be a piece of cake for you.

LOL how did I know you'd respond??
Why would I want to get something I don't like?
Personally, I'd prefer a Volvo XC90 but haven't gotten one yet. I'm looking at the Cadillac CTS for my spouse (That's American isn't it)?
I also have my eye on a mercedes but I just can't see spending that kind of money on something that depreciates so much.
Besides, I love my foreign SUV. Compared to all the American vehicles I've owned, it's the best ever!
And just a question, why do you insist that anyone who may differ in opinion from you is incapable of knowing "right from wrong".
Just because something is right for you, doesn't mean it will ever be right for someone else.
