Had the opportunity to ride in a base model Avenger for 3+ hrs. the other day. I can honestly say now that all the negative hype is not warranted. The owner was very happy with his vehicle,(cupholder positioning excluded)and I left thinking "not bad at all for $16,000 out the door". Lets keep our heads up, things will get better.

Why do you assume that it is jealousy?
That person may have a much better, job and is just stating their opinion

Because he called him overpaid and insulted him. That is what people who are jealous do. Mabye he is just in high school. However, based on some of the remarks on this forum I would assume most are in high school.

Highly skilled? I have seen guys that struggle to be able to do the job, heck they won't even show up. Lots of the issues while the person is still on the job are management, as far as skilled trades some are very sharp, and some are duds. Same as the unskilled, same as the management. I have worked several manufacturing places and that is what you see at most of them. The $14 an hour is pathetic, the union sold people out.$30 is on the high side, it needs to be somewhere in between. I would have liked to have seen a $20/hr across the board with a huge profit sharing bonus.

The avenger seems like a fine car, but im 6ft and my right leg seems to rest too much on the corner of the center console, not very comfy. In fact, thats the reason I dont like the pre-2008 minivans, my left legs rests on the corner of the window/lock controls of the door. Id probly buy a caliber over the avenger.

Dude the new challenger is the car for you, only if they gave us a green sheet on them. Chrysler fu@ked up when they cut us out on that deal; employees were their best custumers.

Is there a plant number? LOL I don't have to answer to you, this is a free forum, open to opinions etc, etc. You are not my worthless boss, however you appear to be worthless! Just to shut your pie hole. 5305

I am not saying several crysler plants, I am saying several manufacturing plants. You have it at all of the plants and they don't make $30/hour. One plant I was at was the $14/hour plant. It is just like he was stated, most people with any ability will go on to something else. At the $20/hr mark that isn't bad money, and you will keep some good workers in if you can provide steady paychecks. It was probably the worst at GM, and then chrysler was behind.

Well if the $20/hr pay was adopted and the true numbers were used and the UAW saw the books so a profit could be paid. What you will have now is when the majority of the jobs have been oursourced, and if the economy turns around you will see $14/hr hired everywhere. So now instead of our kids generation having a chance at a decent living, the only type of manufacturing they have is a $14/hr job that is crap. The whole detroit 3 are so mismangaed, by the UAW and management it would be best to fire everyone and start again.
I am not trying to do a pissing match, the UAW just sold out the membership. The two tier is crap, but if they would have went for a $20/hr deal hopefully they could have offered good pay and grown the industry.

The UAW has no solidarity, and they just wanted to get their hands on the VEBA.

It isn't all UAW members fault.
Lot of it is not addressing the issue when a person makes 1200 pieces of scrap, or addressing management when they know they are running junk and feel they can fix it later. Some of it are poor designs that just don't go together well.
