I have just bought a one year old CRV and the sat nav DVD was missing. I have bought a second hand disc but I just get a message saying that the installed progarm is newer than the DVD installed. Is there a way of resetting the sat nav to reinstall the disc i have ??

I have been getting the same errors. Honda are taking the unit out my CRV and sending it back to Alpine as they believe that there is a problem with the unit. Will update when something happens.

Bought the car 4 years old (52) upgraded the software and it ran well for about 6 months and then had the 'error reading disc' message took the car to the dealer who removed the unit and sent it back to alpine. Cost me £250 for the privalige.
Is this a common fault? It seems to be.

On my 2006 UK Accord, you can force the satnav to downgrade it's internal software to the version on the disc as follows (this is assuming you have a disc that should work). Hold down the following three buttons to enter the service menu: MAP, MENU and PREVIOUS (on my system, these are the 3 buttons under the screen on the left). When the menu comes up, select Version. This will then tell you the software version installed and the one on the disc. To force a software download, press the download button. I must stress that I can't guarantee that this will work. It works on my Accord.(eg: installed a 3.05 disc. Put the 3.01 disc back in, gave the 'older software error'. I did as stated above and the 3.01 disc worked again). Hope that helps, Phil

Great trouble for a 52 plate CRV giving the disc reading error message - after much pratting about at Alpine (and £250) its been back twice - I find that the problem is actually that the disc is not spinning. You can hear it if you try without the engine running. Going back again!

Cheers Gary,, I believe that the 2004 Accord will require an earlier generation disc as the SatNav system is different in the newer (2006) Accord. Look for a 2.XX version disc, not a 3.XX. If the 2.XX discs don't work, then a 1.XX version is needed. Look for old ones on eBay - they often come up quite cheap.
