How do I reset the service oil life dispaly after oil change with my 2006 Honday Pilot? I tried the following:

turn key to II position
turn off engine
press & hold Odometer button
turn key to II position (also tried turn on engine)

Nothing happened. Any help is appreciated.

Never mind. I found the answer in the owner's manual:

Turn key II position
Press & hold Odomenter reset button until service light flashing.
Press the reset button again for > 5 seconds
The service oil life display will be reset to 100%

Thanks so much for posting the answer. I just had my oil changed and need to reset mine too. I'd rather do that before driving home!

I followed the owner's manual directions and it does not re-set on my 2010 Pilot. I can get it to blink, but it won't re-sett. I have tried holding the butoon for 5 seconds and more. I have tried letting up on the button and pressing it again for 5 or more seconds. It just stays at the same oil life. I change my own oil every 3K and am looking for the silver bullet.

Bought a used 2006 Honda Pilot with 28,000 miles...should I buy the extended warranty from Honda? It is for the so called bumper to bumper for an additional 3 years or to 100,000 total miles whichever comes first. It costs $795.00

@ Pat H: Yes, I would. I purchase it for my 05 pilot ex-l w/47k 2yrs ago, but i havent had anything gone wrong as of yet. since it was an cetified used Pilot. It is a good thing to have just in case something were to happen. But if you know how to work on your pilot then nope. Also you have to look into your budget to see if its worth it to you.

I bought a 2004 Honda in 2006 with 99K....I am now at 180K 4 years later and have not any minor or major problems arise....Honda's are very reliable cars, purchasing extended warranting is neither good or bad. Honda makes money hand over fist when it comes to the customer purchasing extended warranty. Think about, the life of the extended warranty usually expires and nothing has happened to your Honda where you could have taken advantage of the warranty. Save your money...make it work for you, Honda has enought money in their bank.

I mimic Mike's plight, my finger is sore from holding the button shaft in, oil life does blink, but does not reset.

Now, does anyone know how to change the oil service from a normal 3k oil change using regular motor oil to using synthetic oil that doesn't need to be change till around 5K. Ours still comes up 0% at 3k, but neet to reset it to a 5K before it comes up to a 0%.. Thanks for any help here.
