Had the flashing D just days after my inspection and oil changed.
Strange because the dealers just told me that I did not spend much money on my van 02 Odessey at the time of inspection according to my van history and rushed it out after 3 hours wait. I was called by American Honda for a servey and stated as such and now comes the flashing D - after my call. After researching some information on the internet, I think I am in big trouble and will need to somehow find a solution to fix my van - just stop moving three weeks after my inspection. What can I do - please help?.
Change the filter in transmission its jammed up and changing fluid just move all the sediments into the filter

I have the exact same whizing noise that nobody has any idea on what the problem is.
Transmission oil is brand new ! Its like having a turbo, and it does that noise when accelerating.
Did you solve your problem ? And what was the cause.
My Drive (D) is flashing from time to time even on park !
I really need help. I have 2000$ spent on it and still hear the noise.
Thanks !

I had a 98 Honda Civic Automatic with a flashing D light.

It wouldn't allow the car the car to go into (top gear) overdrive. Fixed it myself.

There are two transmission speed sensors on the 98 Civic. One in the top and one in the front on the right side (front right) near the bottom. That sensor was the problem. Not the easiest place to get at. You need to disconnect the connector to both sensors and check the resistance. I can't recall the exact resistance value 100 ohms or so? can't remember. The point is if you measure it and it doesn't read anything the circuit is open and it needs replacing.

A quick trip to Honda parts department and a couple of hours working underneath the car and the sensor was replaced, problem fixed. No more flashing D light and it shifted into top gear.

Not sure about the whizzing sound. But check both sensors if you have two, it is most likely that. If one is open, you've found the culprit.

I had the same issue and thought i was looking at a new transmissin but it turns out that if you dont shut your car off while pumping gas, it will flash for a while, sometimes until 2 fillups. So before you have the tranny looked at make sure its just that simple, mine was, thank god
good luck

I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX, after replacing the starter and solenoid, the transmission became sluggish and the "D" drive indicator would flash. I have found that one of the electrical plugs under the solenoid that plugs into the transmission was damaged. any one else been able to find part number or the name of this part?

Was it damaged by whoever replaced your starter?

I did it, it was me. Took me hours to figure it out tho... I was checking Codes, Fluids, the CPU, cables, searching the internet, calling people, etc... Just my luck I broke the wire at the plastic connector. Its either order one, if i can find the "Technical" name, part number of it, or goto a scrap yard and find one. Im sure I could goto the local shops and show them they would find it faster. For 160K miles on it, paid nothing for it, and I never had a problem with it its a good car. Also, The DMV form Adavit of Transfer of Ownership Without Consideration, waived a lot of taxes and fees.

I'm having the same D blinking problem on my 2003 Odyssey. I have over 120K miles on it. I have had this problem thrice in the last 6 - 8 weeks. It starts while I'm driving, and if I park and then start driving again the blinking is gone.
Will plan on taking to dealer.
