HI, We are looking to buy a 2003 Honda Odyssey that has 160,000 miles on it. We are a little worried about the high miles and are worried how long it will last before we start having problems. You can tell this Honda has been well cared for though and does look better than the 2002's at 80,000 miles that we looked at. What should we take into consideration before we purchase this Honda? Please let me know what you all think of this.

Mine has 157500 and is still totally fine - I bought it new. I plan on keeping it well into the 200K or more. I've had maintenance done on a regular basis with no major issues.

Don't mean to hijack this thread.I have a 2003 Ody. with 63000 miles on it. I changed the oil a few weeks ago,and now I have a ticking noise that I think is a lifter or the serpentine belt tensioner? Anyboby have any ideas? No other problems with this vehicle.

Don't know if you found the source of the ticking sound in your Odyssey. Our 1999 with 175,000 km developed the same sound about 160,000 km, and our very experienced Honda mechanic can't figure out what it is. He did mention that Honda was offering engine replacements because the Honda recommended intervals between oil changes (i.e. 5000 mi or 8000 km) was too long between oil changes, causing premature wear in parts of the engine. Unfortunately, he says Honda was only replacing noisy engines that had less than 150,000 km, so we were out of luck. You might want to check this out with your Honda dealer or the national Honda office.

Check the serpentine belt it may have a chunk missing causing the ticking sound

i have a 2006 with 160,000 miles and it runs the same as a family members 2005 that only has about 25,000 miles. i even seen a 2007 with 180,000 miles and its also great. there is nothing to fear with high mileage vehicles. these are vans and were meant to be driven a lot.
