My '07 Odyssey is in the shop for the SECOND time since I purchased it in May. Intermittently the sliding doors on the van do not lock open. They bounce off of the mechanism that typically they latch into to stay open for loading/unloading. Of course, since it happens intermittently it did NOT happen when I took it to the shop and they tell me there's no problem. Today the dashboard completely stopped working. All of my gauges including the tachometer, odometer, gas level, speedometer and oil life monitor are dead. The lights are the only thing functioning. This was not the Honda Quality that I expected when we shelled out $25K for a new van. Anyone else having these problems? Suggested solutions? Thanks.

Him, I have a 07 LX, had the same problem of dashboard intermittently. I took it and they said no problem was found. Do you know what was the diagnosis of yours?. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a 06 Odyssey it is headed for the shop for a new closer motor on the sliding door. I have brought it in the past for the same door not opening easy. Now the door won't shut tight. My van only has 45,000 miles and the door has been acting up since 35,000 miles. Now they say it will be $300 to fix on motor. This is my second van from honda and the last one had the same problems. They reasurred me that the doors were redesigned and motors were stronger!!! Well that doesn't seem to be true. Never again will I buy a Honda...

We bought a Honda Ody. new in 2007. It has been in the shop three time this year due to brakes, rotors, and steering. Several days ago my wife complained of tightness when steering. We took it in and they claimed they replaced the power steering pump. 24 hours later her steering went out and she ran off he road. Luckily she didn't hit anything with three of our kids in the van. We are also very unimpressed by so-called Honda Quality!

I own 2007 Odyssey. I have a solution for sliding doors not opening all the way. The glass and door opening mechanisms are interconnected somehow. When the glass is down, the door doesn’t slide open all the way. First you need to close the door back, shut the glass and slide it open anew. Hope this helps!

Thank-you so much for the info you posted, shown below.
We were completely stumped why the doors were not opening fully, and this at random.
One or the other would open all the way, sometimes neither.
Both windows were partially rolled down.
We were going to make an appt at the dealer thinking it's some sort of defect.
THANK-YOU!!

My left sliding door opened while getting onto the highway- with my three small children in the back seats. The dash indicated all doors were closed and they were locked. Thank goodness my kids were in carseats or they could have easily fallen out. I will never put my children in this car again and the dealership also could not find anything wrong. This is a huge problem!!

I had the same issue and it turned out to be bad battery. I got it replaced since it is covered under warranty.

Our 2006 Odyssey drivers side sliding door wasn't latching. It would close most of the way, but just wouldn't stay latched. My husband took the door panel off and removed the latch and took off a plastic cover, reinstalled the latch and door panel and all works fine. We just spent 6 days with it not shutting all the way, which began a day after our vacation started, driving around New York and Philly with the door not latched. Not sure yet what the problem was, but the small plastic cover was just thick enough to create a problem of some sort.

My odyssey has another problem. It is 2007 Odyssey. The cup holder on the right of the third row seat starts to heat up as I drive and becomes very hot.

I am suspecting door motor heating up but the dealership could not find anything and have asked Honda Engineers for help.

The door ajar lights on the dash of my 2007 Odyssey are showing that the passenger door and passenger sliding door are open but they are tightly closed. Also, my push buttons on the key will no longer lock the doors. It will unlock them but not lock them. I suspect this is because the van thinks the doors are open and will not allow them to lock but I don't know why the van is showing the doors are ajar.

My 07 Odyssey dash lights flash on and off and it won't start, I was thinking it was the security system, but then it started but will not start again now. When I turn on the lights everything goes out. I'm now thinking battery.Anyone??

After reading all of these posts Im starting to question Honda quality. A little over a week ago my wife reported hearing a loud, steady tone ring out while she was driving. While driving the car I heard it as well. I pulled over and put the car in park and the tone went away. This is the same tone/alarm I hear when I put the car in gear before the sliding side doors are fully closed. It happends intermittently so it may be hard to reproduce. I brought my 2008 Odyssey in today. Just got a call from them and they cannot reproduce the problem and all of the diagnostic tests they performed do not point to a problem. Very frustrating. After reading the above posts, I'm concerned about the safety of my children in the backseat.
