Sorry George. The lawsuit won't cover you since you are already out of the original warranty period. All you'll get is a portion of the cost to put a protection screen in so it doesn't happen again.

The class lawyers sold out everyone's rights to get themselves paid.

After taking my '05 Odyssey to dealership to check a/c not cooling, I was told that it needed new compressor, etc. They had just repaired and replace hood and left front fender from storm damage by tree.
They quoted $1,250 for replacement. I went to an a/c mechanic close to me and he told me that parts only cost $350.00. He checked out my unit and found nothing wrong with compressor. Instead it was the heat/air switches they damaged when doing the repairs. Where can I sign up
for law suit which they richly deserve?

I bought a 2010 Honda accord and I haven't even had it 10 mos. yet and the a/c all of a sudden stopped blowing cold air. I went to the honda dealer and they quoted me $1081.77. This is ridiculous. They told me a rock hit the compressor and it needs to be replaced. I also called Honda American Corp. and they did ABSOLUTELY nothing to help!!! The representative was nice, but couldn't help because of course this was an act of nature and not covered under warranty. PLEASE FOLKS - WE ALL HAVE TO CALL AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS OR ELSE NOTHING IS GOING TO BE DONE!!!! IF THEY GET SWARMED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE! THESE BLOGS ARE REALLY NOT HELPING AT ALL BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY TO READ THEM! CALL! CALL! CALL! I really do not want to put out another $1000 if something goes wrong with this compressor again.
I just had the same thing happen to my brand new 2012 Pilot! The honda guy said that I'm not the first one to experience this and that it is not covered under my warranty. It cost almost 900 dollars to replace. I did get the part back and I'm baffled to what the damage really was!? I think I might have been lied to! Did you ever get any information from anyone on this?

I don't know about you Erica, but if the AC went out on my brand new Pilot, there's not a chance in hell that I would pay to have it fixed. I don't think you made enough noise. There's always small claims court.

I just discovered this site. Could someone please tell me how to join the class action suit? My Odyssey is currently at the dealer with the AC clutch relay problem.

I have a 2011 Odyssey and it is still under warranty and the AC isn't working. Delearship said the compressor is bad, maybe road side debris damaged it and they will not cover the repair. Any advice or help??

I have 2005 Honda Odyssey. Last year, AC stopped to cooling. I bring to Katy Honda dealer; they told me the compressor died. I paid $1250 to replace it. When it got hot this year, the AC blowing hot air again, I take it to Katy dealer again, this time; they told me the high side line heavy leak. They asked $578 to fix that. I am so depressed …

Do you have a local auto repair shop that can do AC work?

We have a 2005 Honda Odyssey, was new when we bought it. In 2010 the compressor clutch failed. the dealer told us that it was not covered so we paid $900 to have it repaired and three years later is happening again, I would expect the repair to last more than three years. Does anyone knows what happened to the Class action suit?

How do we join the lawsuit, this happened to me recently also...

Okay, if you found this site, like me you are really pissed that driving down the road one day could suddenly cost you over $1300. Yes, the same thing happened to my leased 2005 Honda Odyssey only 3 weeks before I was to turn the lease in to Honda. Just out of warranty at 36,041 miles BUT when I called the dealership service department I was informed that the ac condenser is not a warranty covered item so it didn't matter it would not have been covered anyway. NICE! I was told by the service manager at my dealership where I get all service done that I would have to pay for the repair before I turned in the lease in a few weeks. I decided to call other service departments of different Honda dealerships in Los Angeles, CA. It paid off I contacted Alvin at Santa Monica Honda he is the service manager there and was helpful. He let me plead my case about how this just should not happen to a 4 year old car. He said it happens "all the time" we went back and forth a bit before he decided to offer me a deal of $570 to fix the a/c condenser. I had to think about that for a day and did more research online and found another forum that had great information. I called American Honda Corp. customer service and told them what happened. They did not want to hear it nor help. Really upset, I asked for a supervisor, I told them it is a known problem that Honda is refusing to address because it is a HUGE money making opportunity for the service centers. Some service centers see 5 or more of these a/c problems a day. Add it up $1300 x 5=$$$$$.
I told them about the pending class action lawsuit and said I wanted this further investigated and I want Honda to pay for the repair. Hmmm. The supervisor then said he could open a case on my behalf and send it to the case manager for review and possibly some assistance would be offered by Honda. They have a "goodwill warranty" that will cover either 100%, 90/10%, 75/25%....of the cost of the repair. I asked what determines the percentage covered and was told it just depends on how the case manager is "feeling" on that day your case is reviewed. Well, my repair was covered 90% paid by Honda and I paid 10% or $130 vs.$1300!!!! This is really unjust for Honda to treat their customers like this for a "known" defective a/c condenser issue. I also joined the class action lawsuit as hundreds of other Honda owners have done. I hope they make Honda pay back all the people they offered NO help to with the repairs. This affects ALL Honda automobiles not just the Odyssey. Most years reporting problems are from 2004- now. The 2009 Honda's just came out but the a/c condenser is in the same exact place as the 2004's and so on. They have not moved the condenser to a safer location in the engine so the problem could happen to any Honda anytime!!!! All I can say is fight Honda and make them pay for the repair! They will do it if you insist they accept responsibility and they should do it for ALL customers not just when they “feel” like it. Also, you can purchase an after market grille that attaches to the Honda grille inside and it will ensure this does not happen again. Check out www.mrgrille.com . I think its about $120 for the part. Some people have also used simple window screen and attached it themselves. Cost $5-$10. How come Honda can’t offer this to their customers as soon as a car is purchased? Hmmm.

I need help. I am a first time car buyer and purchased my 2005 Honda Odyssey. I really was enjoying my new van until the ac stopped working. I paid for diagnostics to find that it would cost me $1300 to replace the compressor and coils. I have a cross country drive in two weeks with 6 children without $$$$. I cried for an hour after leaving the dealership before I searched the web for alternative solutions. I need all the suggestions and fast....please help!

Sorry April, but not much you can do other than get a second opinion. Did you get any kind of a warranty when you bought your car?

I have the same problem with my honda accord 2012. Honda told me that my AC was not wondering due to a punture in my AC Condenser and quoted me at 650+. I had it for little over a year and the mileage at that time was 35,000. I told the representative that this problem has happened in many cars and he said that it doent happen often.... I want to join the lawsuit!!!!!

Try filing a claim against your auto insurance comprehensive policy. If the dealer is going to claim road damage you should be able to get them help file the claim. It worked for me.

WOW! The air relays need replaced in my van - luckily not expensive parts - but you can't have them shipped to you - you have to go to the dealer (which for me is a 2hr drive) to get the replacement part. To make an appointment - or to just purchase them & put them in myself?

We bought our first Honda, a used 05 Odyssey and ran well for past 2 years. Suddenly, the a/c stopped working last week. The local repair shop told us a problem with the condenser. They couldn't fix it and told us to take it to the dealer. After reading your posts, I expect to get cheated. I do remember hitting a rock recently, but I never heard of this damaging the a/c before. Last time we buy Honda.

This is exactly why people are starting to buy more minivans built by other manufactures other than Honda. Not a smart corporate decision when they're impacting your repeat consumer base, and ultimately the bottom line.

We got 2007 Honda Odyssey, and
dead battery SO MANY TIMES!!
and the AC was blowing HOT air, took it to the Honda dealership and they fixed it with us paying $600 out of pocket(AFTER the warranty covered).
And then still have the same problem,
took it again to the same person, but I was told there was NOTHING WRONG with it.
AC is blowing HOT air!
They kept saying there's nothing wrong with it.
now the warranty is expired and took it again, and oh yeah, now he says "the Compressor needs to be replaced and it will cost $1500".

Honda sucks!
Totally dishonest and ripping you off with BAD car!

I am having the same issue with my AC. Had it fixed last year and now they are telling me it is the compressor. This will cost me a little over $1,300. I wanted to throw up. I brought my Odyssey in for a paint repair, basic oil change and they are quoting me $3,000 total.
1. AC compressor
2. Boots in front are torn
3. Steering pump is going to go out???

To be honest, I am upset with this car. Last year my AC repair and brakes cost over $1,200. The year before it was something else. I have had the battery replaced three times. I really wish that I never purchased this 2007-Honda Odyssey. I have owned VW's, Toyota's, Volvo's and a Nissan. Not one of those vehicles consistently cost me this kind of repair dollars!!
