Looking at used Gold Wings

I have been considering the purchase of a used Gold Wing, no specific unit in mind yet but am wondering if there are any model years to avoid. If your not wanting to spend alot of money is there a mileage limit a person should be concerned about? Engine sizes increased over the years from somewhere around 1100 to at least 1800 now. Were they all good engines or is there anything about any particular size that may be worth avoiding or pursuing? I am just looking for some good general opinions. My use is very seasonal due to my northern Mich. location.

Ask a mechanic/specialist, especially a Goldwing mechanic, I know of one near me, but Im sure they are in most area,s or an email/phone call away. I would think they would be most happy to help you stay away from certain models, I was told after the fact that my 85 LTD was one of those to steer clear of, but I like it just the same, the electronics that where in question are the very reason I chose the bike, and still love it. I was told to steer clear of the injected bikes-"the older ones at least", and the rest are very good. Hope that helps, and doesnt chap anyones hide, just what I was told by a Goldwings only mechanic.
