I have a 1980 GL-1100 Gold Wing that I just purchased in April. It has 47,000 miles on it. I have replaced the thermostat and radiator fan switch. And I have flushed the radiator. The engine still over heats. When I am idling, the fan is switching on and off properly and the temp guage indicates the temp is normal. But when I begin traveling, the temp begins to climb until it is in the red zone. Do you have any ideas what the problem may be?

Sounds like you need to have the rad dipped, and maybe rodded by a competent radiator shop. At 47k the impeller on your pump should be far from worn-out and still be able to provide good flow.
