fuel gauge and fuel warning light say...

we have a 2005 CR-V. Just recently when we add gas, the gas backs up in the pipe, we have to very slowly add gas until it's full. At the same time this began our fuel gauge suddenly began to only move once the tank was about 1/4 full. Is this a vent problem, and if so how can we fix it? Do we need to pull the tank?

My 2005 CR-V is having similar issues. The tank was close to half this morning, so I refilled at a gas station with 30 liters. This is supposed to fill the tank, but surprisingly, the tank read empty. I put off the engine and checked if the tank cap was properly notched, and even closed it again with the 3 clicks, but the issues persisted. It isn't safe to drive with an empty tank, and there's no way I'd know if the tank is empty with this issue! please help!
My 2003 CRV has had that problem for several years (see earlier posting, above). My local Honda dealership service dept (who I find to be reliable and helpful)ran some diagnostics and found the voltage from the tank sender was within spec. That being the case, they identified the problem as being within the instrument cluster. Apparently the fuel gauge cannot be replace separately, only as part of the cluster. They estimated a price (parts and labour) of $800- 1,000 to replace the cluster with a new one. No idea if you might be able to source one from a breaker yard. In any event, at that price I will let the low fuel warning light stay on and just continue to estimate when tank needs a refill by using the trip odometer. To bad Honda won't fix this problem as a post-warranty replacement.

i have that problem now, i have filled up the car, then drove over the speed bumps at speed in the hope of moving the sender unit in the tank, then i went up a few kerbs, for another bump or so, then i removed the fuse box cover and puhed in all the fuses, but i have noticed that if the battery is a bit flat due to the cold weather the gauge plays up a bit, so i have run the car for a while and now have the fuel gauge up to half way, hope that this is of use to some of you.

My 2007 Honda CRV ran out of gas yesterday, even though the gauge read 1/4 tank. My mechanic son told me it was probably the fuel sending unit, which can be had online for about $45.00. Easy to install or have a mechanic do it. I'm ordering mine today.

Well have had the same problem intermittently, ever once in a while when I run it real low b4 filling the gauge sticks on E & the light comes on? Every other time shutting it off & restarting the car or a bumpy road fixed it(float must be hanging up) this time it won't go away!! & as for the a/c there are HUNDREDS of thousands of these cars with blown up compressors & Honda ignore's the issue! As for the post a few above "I don't know about thousands" I DO & IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS! Do some research honda's are plagued with a/c compressors self-destructing!! I'm on the 3rd one all replaced by the DEALER!!!& it's blown up AGIAN!

There's nothing to reset. It's a 2013, why would you even waste your time with this? Take it back to your dealer and tell THEM to reset it.

Have same problem
My Crv gets 550km to a tank so i just fill my tank full every time i fill up and fill up again at around 500km, you would have to remember to reset your trip button every fill up.

hi 206 is doing the very same thing. This am with almost a full tank of gas, the gauge showed on empty and the warning light was blinking- not solid light like it usually is when the tank is getting low. I restarted a few times in hopes it would go back to normal but no luck. I called the dealer and they said they never came across that problem before and now I see a few other people have it. So has anyone had it successfully repaired??

Many shops have a diagnostic tool that will split the circuit between the gauge and the tank unit and indicate which one is defective. I'd find a shop to do that before just replacing parts.

2008 Honda Civic..yesterday out of nowhere. the low fuel light came on. Take gauge shows between 1/4-1/2. Day was HOT 106, drove home and noticed that when I made a right hand turn the light went off and when I turned left it came on...What the heck..Going to fill tank and see what happens.
I watch the mileage numbers anyway but wondered if I should have the sensor replaced?
