Roof Rack Carrying Weight

I ordered and installed the factory roof rack, which bolts directly into the roof of the 2000 CRV. When I ordered and installed I wasn't worried about the 75lb. max weight--seemed sufficient. But now we are going to buy a Yakima or Thule roof box, and the base weight will be 35lbs. or something like that, which leaves us only 40lbs worth of stuff to put into it.
Question: for those of you who have the factory roof rack, what has your experience been with weight? Can we push past that a bit?

I would assume the factory limit of 75lbs would be a bit on the safe side, so my guess would be you could push it a bit. Not too much though. Use common sense.

I'm just hoping that the ( http://www.hitchcity.com/BikeCargo-BaseRacks.... ) roof rack that I end up getting will make traveling less of a hassle, and be able to have a bunch of things stored.-Toronto
