anyone have any problems with the accelerator sticking in their CR-V? I had a very scary experience today where the accelerator was stuck down and the car wouldn't de-accelerate, even with lots of braking. I had it towed to a Honda dealership (after I got it stopped and off road) and they couldn't find a problem. Interested in any thoughts/experiences.

last night I had a similar and also frightening experience. Just after I shifted into third gear, my 2005 CRV (manual) accelerated suddenly and without my foot on the gas. The engine roared, the tachometer maxed out. I put the car in neutral: no difference, engine still roared. I pulled my keys out of the ignition, the engine went dead (of course) and the car glided to a stop. I tried two or three times to restart the car (from neutral) and the engine roared uncontrollably to life each time. Got myself towed to the dealership/repair. I was freaked and I am afraid to drive the car again. Someone could have been badly hurt or killed by this malfuction. What on earth could cause this? I am waiting to hear from the service department, but while I wait, I wonder if any other CRV (2005) have ever experienced this phenomena?)

My daughter's 2000 crv, 46000 miles did the same thing on 4-10-07. It runs fine now, however we are afraid to let her drive it. If you know what caused the car to do this- please post.

DID HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS AND ALSO IF ANY WORK WAS DONE BEFORE NEAR THE THROTTLE CABLE IT COULD BE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT.

I had a similar experience as Teresita. I have a 2007 CRV, automatic, AWD, with approx 40,000 miles. When car was taken to mechanic, he had to jump start the battery, but was able to start the car normally. The car is still in the shop. I have been on the net looking for answers.

2007 Honda CRV 62,000 Miles When accelerating to pass at about 65 mph, the car keeps on accelerating and will not slow down. Had to put 2 feet on the brakes and push very hard to stop it. Put it into park and the tac is still between 5-6 and sounds like it will blow up. Stopped hard on breaks with bot feet 6 times and they finally loosened up and tac went down to zero. Took it straight to the Honda dealer and they could not find anything wrong. I'm afraid to drive it.

I just had the throttle stick for the first time last night. I was climbing a some what steep grade when this occurred. I did brake hard and whether this action was related or not, it did de-accelerate and work normally after that. I plan to have someone have a look at it and will post response. This is obviously a problem with Honda CRV, why have I not heard about this possibly lethal issue?

Just had this happen to me. Fortunately I was going about 5 miles an hour in traffic when it happened/started, so with braking and hitting cars no one was hurt. Four car pile up though. A guy I know who works with automobiles says it is an electronic switch and he has come across it before. I am just glad I was in traffic so it never managed to reach any speed.

My daughter just had this happen with her CRV today on a major 4 lane highway at highway speeds. Engine jumped to 7000 PRM and wouldn't lower. Breaks wouldn't work, she tried to jam into neutral and it still rev'd like a beast. We've had lots of freezing rain and so she was hard put to keep control when pulling over and was afraid of spinning back out into traffic. She could have been killed.
We will be pushing her to contact Honda themselves to demand answers. This is totally not safe, nor ok and it gives me eerie memories of the Toyota fiasco where people died while they covered it up for years before coming clean and forced to make restitution and implement recalls.

Yes just happened to my 2001 crv it backed into a car and went through a cement wall hitting 4 more cars in drive. Could not stop it. This is a dangerous situation luckily no one was hurt.
I just donated the car but now stuck with damages to a total of 5 cars and a cement wall. More people should be notified immediately.
